I've tried the 5 R's but my IPOD won't even stay on long enough to be recognized. The screen turns on and displays the menu, but then immediately turns off. Do I need to bring it in to the Geek Squad or is it not worth it because it is so old?

Joannfer, have you tried the 5-R's

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/

i usually use this with some wierd issues on an OLD iPod, and it helps, although i experience another issue after a month of 2, but it helps.

service centers and other techs says its not practical to get it fixed since it is too old and may cost more when repaired. so try the 5-R's first, just a friendly thought.

My Computer and my iTunes do not recognize my iPod. The iPod will start to charge, but it never really charges, will recognize all other iPods!

1. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this can fix many general iPod problems. 2. You may try this iTunes alternative, I always use it to upload music and video to my iPod once my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, my friends recommend it to me, it's safe and works pretty well, you can also use it to copy music and video from ipod to computer for backup, it's useful when you lost your iTunes library. 3. Update your iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod. I got this method from Apple technical support. Hope it helps. Ipod cant turn on or be recognized by compter, think due to nod32

Try recharging your ipod for a lil while maybe the battery got weak, nod32 could also be blocking your device, i would suggest uninstalling nod32 and get avg free edition it is a lot better to use.
