Question about Datamax M-Class 4208 Thermal Label Printer
I am having a problem with My datatmax I class 4208 printer it is printing 1 1/2 labels and says top of form fault
The printer must be calibrated or the type of sensor is wrong. Verify that the sensor type is correct for your label (gap or black mark) and you can calibrate it by pressing the FEED key for about 5 seconds approximately.

First thing u need to do that is to clean the media sensor, if it doesn't work than check and make sure media sensor eye is the middle of two label cutting mark (if it is gap label).i hope it solve your prob if not go for a sensor calibration.

After changing the size of your labels the printer needs to measure the new label length. Press the feed button for four seconds (wiht new labels loaded & printhead locked down). If this doesn't fix your problem you need to correctly position the media sensor.Make sure the short white line on the media sensor is above the label gap.

I am sorry to tell ya but you have a bad Media Sensor. They are not too hard to replace once you get the part so if you are looking to do it yourself I would say it can take about 20 minutes as long as you are patient. Good Luck.

You need to calibrate the printer using the instructions located in the manual. This should be in area 5.2 of the manual. If you don't have the manual you can download them at this address along with software updates and firmware updates.
Hope this helps you.

try using a seagull sceintific driver.
also if you are sending graphics (barcode) instead of an actual barcode decoded font, the printer will process as a graphic.
If serial, speed up to max, if parallel it should print quite fast

You may need to take out the whole ribbon assembly by removing 3 screws. The ribbon sensor looks like a L shaped clear plastic glass.
If still not working. buy the ribbon assembly.
