My tv is turning off after about 1 minute of being on and then proceeds to flash the red indicator 8 times when it shuts down.
Any idea what this is? I think one of the boards may be shorted.

Your flyback needs replacement its flyback 145328521 you can get one at the following link or they also have the entire new D board for your model available. If you have questions leave them a email, they answer quickly.

Yes eight blinks is the error code for a defective flyback, yes they are very easy to change takes about 45 miinutes to take out the old one and put in the new one. the link I posted has free online tech support available by instant message for their customers in case they need help doing the repair.
thats a very strong possibility as the flyback is what powers up the heaters in the picture tubes so it could definately cause the tubes to flicker before it died completely.

Are you sure that is all that is broken? The TV probably isn't worth much more than 200 these days.....
Is that part easy to replace?
do you know if this piece has also been effecting my tv with the green lines and other flickering?
