Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

I have a canon pc1019 digital camera, and how i connect it with pc?

thats also known as a powershot a40 - heres the support site for that camera http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=221&modelid=8288 if you goto the drivers and download tab - here you will find a manual - for zoom browser and the camera You should be able to connect the camera to your computer with a supplied USB cable - and then the zoombrowser software should detect your camera connected and offer to transfer images In the manual on Page 126/128 explains how to connect camera to PC Also explains in the manual how to transfer the images. If your PC has a memory card reader you can transfer that way - also explained in the manual

I have a Vista OP system and each time I click on the Zoomboxer for A40 Canon to import pics to my computer it gives me an error msg that the Zoomboxer is in use by another user and I need to close/switch...

Canon did not update drivers under the Vista OS for many of its cameras, the A40 included. Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Zoom Browser cannot recognize my Canon Powershot G3

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following post, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos:

+driver for canon powershot a 40 on vista

I had same problem. Called Canon and found out A40 is not compatible with Vista so there is no driver. But you can download pics to your Vista by purchasing USB Memory Card Reader/Writer you can find at Walmart for about $12.00. You put your Flash card in device and has USB that plugs in computer for downloading pics.

Software Powershot A400

Ouch. The ONLY "official" solution I could find was this: "If you have lost youroriginal Solution Disk, you can purchase a replacement by calling Canon Photo/Video Spare Parts."

OTOH, I did find this file:
http://menterprise.net/guest/apps/zoombrowser/zoombrsr22.exe

== Be careful downloading files. Scan it with virus-scan before opening and installing. ==

BTW, updaters for some versions of the Zoom Browser can be found at: usa.canon.com.

You do not need any sort ZOOM BROWSER. Try Picasa from Google. It is free and works way better than any OEM proprietal browser.

Canon PowerShot A40

If you have a Vista, it is not compatible. It will not download the Zoom browser. I had to purchase a Memory card reader/writer to download pics on my laptop from my camera and by passing the printer.
