To mount it under a cabinet, you have to have the under cabinet install kit; you'll find that here: Under Cabinet Mounting Kit WX4 A019 GE Appliances the kit does include instructions. You can't mount it without the kit.

pretty normal. the light generates a lot of heat. microwave is all metal, so it transmits the heat pretty well.

Theoretically JVM1400-series microwaves (XL1400 is a meaningless number they put on the ovens) can be used on a counter top, but it's really not safe because it has no feet, and it may slide and fall off the counter.

Also, it will probably not set level on a counter.

That's usually a defective upper or lower door switch (or either switch's mount may be bad) or a stuck relay or defective electrolytic on the control circuit board.

Hello :

It could be bad door switch or loose door switch mount . There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

or it could be problem with the control panel .

You'll have to remove and/or modify the frame & existing mounting plate as required, which may require some amount of cutting and drilling too.
