Question about Kenwood Car Speakers & Subwoofers

3 Answers

I have a KDC 316S unit in my 1992 Eagle Talon. When the unit gets hot, which could be from the car just sitting in the sun, the radio receiver stops working and just emits white noise. Once the unti cools down, it will beging to work again. Only the radio receiver is affected. The CD playback works fine. Would a new face plate solve this (unlikely) or is the receiver part of the fixed in-dash installation?

Although some capacitors could be involved in this, it would seem that, unless the capacitors are specific to the operation of the radio receiver, this wouldn't be it. This is most likely something in the RF frontend/conversion to base-band. At this point that whatever the problem is, I'm assuming that it is not likely to be caused be something in the removable faceplate(?question here). If I run the AC in the car long enough, eventually the radio will begin to work again.

One of the ICs inside is overheating, find an authoirized Kenwood service in your area and have it checked

Changing the plate should not solve the problem, as this will only affect the controls and the security chipset, in your case the problem is located on the mainboard, inside the stereo.
Probably there is a defective chipset or even just a burnt capacitor in the tuner area of the board.

I have lost the security code for my kenwood cd receiver. The model is KDC-MP4033S. Serial number is KE1202U0900623.

Hi,

Unfortunately Kenwood Radios can only be decoded on a bench and must be connected directly to specialist software. They cannot be decoded via serial alone. There is however a special procedure that can be used to bypass the security on these units using a master code 5227 (KCAR) which I will outline below.

Ulock code kdc-mp5028

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3

Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

Hi, I would like to install my kenwood kdc-w7534u into my mini one, how can I do it, can you help please?

To install your kenwood, you will need to first remove your stock radio. To do this, I believe there is a screw you can get at from the glove box. As well, there should be trim around the radio itself. Pry into that, and pull as hard as you can. It should pull off the trim-- from there, you should be able to remove the original radio.
While putting in your new head unit, make sure you have the right wiring harness. With this, you can plug existing wires into the new receiver. From there, all you need to do is make sure all of the previously installed wires are installed in the new unit correctly, then secure the unit and replace the trim.
Voila, you're done!

KDC-4051UG Only comes "ON" with

Your head unit is now connected correctly. That is how it is intended to be installed. Unless it doesn't store the radio stations. In that case the power cables of the head unit (RED&YELLOW) are incorrectly connected, but not a big problem. hope that helps dreamsystems

Sounds like your sound ic has gone defective. Have all wires checked before sending unit in for repairs. Make sure nothing has come loose and is touching.
