Question about Denon Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Hi - I have a Denon DM50 mini hifi and the CD tray seems to have jammed. It says Mech Error on the display when I try to open the tray. Completely my fault as I moved it when there were cds in the autochanger. Any ideas on how to sort this out?

I'd just like to be able to open the tray and play CDs again, so have tried to remove the front of the hifi and see what I cann do from there.

Thanks. A CD is definitely stuck in there. The problem that I'm having is that one side of the front casing is being stubborn and refusing to budge. Pretty sure I could fix it if only I could prise the front off! May just have to take it to a pro after all.

    All sorted! Thanks.

I think you have a disc in the mechinism that has popped out of the tray.

Taking these apart and getting the disc out can sometimes be a pretty difficult problem. If you do not have some good mechanical skills and are able to remember exactly where each screw goes and how each cable is plugged in, I would not try it yourself.

A repair center could probably fix this for around $75, depending on the rates of the shop. It should only take them about an hour to do this. And normally they will also clean and lube the mech properly while they are already in there.

If you do attempt this make sure everything goes back together exactly the way it came apart.

Once you get the mech out of the unit, look to see if there is are any disc's that are out of place. Sometimes you can push the disc back into the tray without dis-assembling the top part of the mech. This would be the preferable method so you will not need to re-assemble the mech.
If a tray is loaded into the area where the laser pick up is located and a disc is actually clamped into it, do not try to remove that.

It is likely that it is in the proper position.

If you require any further help let me know, and a good rating is always appreciated.

My denon rcd-m35dab, there is disc in and plays ok but cannot open the drawer it just shuts down/turns itself off

Check the belt or drive that is responsible for opening up the disk tray. If it is slipping the disk will not come out.

The CD tray wont open. The display window says "Open" then "Close" then "door"

Hi:
This is caused by a bad load motor or Belt, could possibly be a bad gear also, you will have to open the unit and check the mechnasim especially the load and close section of the mech assembly. look for belts that have become egg shaped or very soft to the touch.
You cam check the unit while pushing the open and close button and watching the movement of the tray..

The cd tray to my hifi is not woring

If there is a disk in the tray that is not properly located this may be causing a jam - you may be able to get it open by carefully pushing something thin (like a credit card - or another disk ) in to the top of the tray slot to hold the disk down - take care not to push it all the way in!). At the same time prise the bottom of the tray VERY gently with a small screwdriver whilst pressing the eject/open button.
If that is not the cause of the problem the plastic cogs or the rubber drive belt that operate the tray mechanism may be worn / broken. Repair/ or replacement of these components is possible if you can locate the correct parts (try Ebay) but as CD or DVD players are so cheap to buy it may be simpler just to replace the whole unit.

Denon UDCM-M10 CD auto changer Disc slots won't open. Display says 'Err'. Any advice welcome.

These units attempt a "reset" operation when first powered up. This insures that the mechanism is in a known state and ready. Any failure to complete this reset will result in the error you see. Usually this is caused by the mechanism getting out of timing and requires a erbuild of the mechanism to get the timing correct. A jammed disc, or the forcing of the tray can cause this too. Without seeing the actual unit, I can not state for sure what the exact rpoblem is, but a repair for this problem usually costs less than $10 for parts. The cost is int he labor to completely dis-assemble and re-assemble the mechanism.

CD DRAWER DOESNT OPEN

Is there a small hole on the front of the load tray? If there is use a straightened out paperclip to push into the hole to remove the stuck cd. That might help you out.

We have the RCA RS2767i Home Stereo with 5-disc changer and ipod dock. The CD Tray won't eject or shuffle...everything else works fine. It seems the disc tray isn't responding to anything. We read in the...

Let me respond with a possible solution although I'd bet that both of you already tried these.

The reason I checked into this is because I'm looking for a new mini system. I happen to be at Target and they only had 2 models - this one and a SONY. I certainly didn't want to buy the RCA given these problems, so I asked the salesperson, who seemed to have some knowlege.

As far as opening the tray on top, there is a button to push right under the tray. The button has an icon of a triangle on it. This seems to be somewhat of a standard icon for opening the tray or ejecting a CD (my car's CD has the same icon for ejecting a CD).

As far as only being able to get 3 CD's out, there is another button under the tray marked "disc skip". This rotates the tray. When you open the tray, you can only get to 3 of the CD's. When you push disk skip, it rotates the tray one position, so you can get the 4th one out. Another push and now you can get the 5th one.

Sometimes my CD changer doesn't shuffle the disks. If I only have 1 CD or DVD in it and push the tray open button, the disk stays in the unit and the tray revolves to an intermediate position. I push the button to put the tray back and try disc skip; that usually works.

If your problems are not solved per above, then I definitely do NOT want to get this.

I have an denon ud m50 multi cd player and reciever some one tried to put more than 1 cd in the same tray and it now will not accept any so its a mechanical problem can this be fixed and if possible...

Yes this is fixable by rebuilding the loading mechanism. As long as the mechanism is just jammed and no parts are broken, this should only cost the labor charge at a local service shop. I have done a number of these in the past and while not the simplest of mechanisms, it is fairly straightforward.

Hi there . i have a cd reciver denon rcd-m33 which wont open and close the cd tray it just says demo mode when the button is pressed. please any help .....

Hold the function button in while it says CD.
Turn the machine off then on.
Try to eject now.
Worked for me.

This was achieved accidentally so if it doesn't work first time, try various combinations using these two buttons.
