My lg tv won't turn on after a lightening storm

Your surge protector did not function properly, contact the manufacturer of the power strip.

Power in house went out. T.V. wont turn on.

Did you have a surge protector on the TV? Have you tried unplugging it for 5 minutes, if not try that. If it still won't work contact your local electrical power provider and start a claim for damages from the power outage.

I have a Mitsubishi projection model WS-B55 that is plugged into a surge protector. The power went off for about an hour or an hour and a half this morning, and the power light is flashing. I called...

First, to answer your last question, not all power outages and subsequent surges are created equally nor are all surge protectors. Also, after a power outage where the subsequent surge is so strong that it got past your surge protector and knocks out your TV and it's never done that before... REPLACE YOUR SURGE PROTECTOR.
However, that being said, in my experience it is unlikely that the TV is going to require a technician. Understand that the person that you spoke with in tech Support is not a technician and is reading off of a list of troubleshooting pages that are more extensive then what's in the manual. What the technician is probably not aware of is that your TV, like most home electronics, has a safety failsafe that requires the device to be separated from power completely before doing a system reset
First, after pressing the button it's supposed to flash for about a minute anyway but I'm assuming that after it's done pressing that the TV is still not firing up.
Unplug the TV, let it sit for an hour, plug it back in (to the wall, not the suspect surge protector). If the light is still flashing, press the reset button again and wait for it to stop flashing and attempt to turn it on again. If it doesn't work, unplug the TV, follow the same steps however, let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it back in. That length of time is not common but some sets do require it.
If none of this works, then I would say that it's time to call a technician.

Power Outage Problems Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV

try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.

I have a Cyber-Power 425 VA and I think it has been tripped by a power outage recently. I was able to get my computer & monitor working again by removing them from the surge protector and plugging them...

Probably should be tossed. But you can try plugging a standard lamp into it. If it powers your good on that aspect but no way to know if surge pretection is still valid.

Cannot turn on tv

it sounds like the power surge got past the surge protector and damaged one of the boards in the back of the tv. it may or may not be worth fixing depending on what you want to spend on it

No power

Unplug the tv press power on and plug it back in.
some of these units have a reset clearly marked on the back.
connect direct to wall as the surge protector may now have issue.
