Switch it on auto (or easy) first and see if focus works that way. If your on manual (or P) You have to use the joystick on the display to control the focus. All you do is push the center button on the joystick, move the joystick down to focus, press the center on the joystick and adjust it left or right. Press the center on the joystick when corrected.

Focusing a webcam that is out of arms reach

Focusing a web cam that is out of arms reach

If your webcam has focus control in the operating software, then this topic may be a little confusing. But for some folks, me being one, the web cam has to be focused by turning a dial on the front of the camera. What's the big deal? The big deal is if you can't reach the camera from where you are sitting and you need to stand and/or lean and reach forward, then how do you focus on you if you're not where you need to be?

Assuming that your camera is normally positioned on top of your monitor directly in front of you. Here's what you can do. Sit in your normal position, take the webcam and hold it against your chest and aim it at the monitor. Adjust the focus until the preview image that is displayed on the monitor is clear. Then when you place the cam back in it's normal position, and aim it at you, the image should still be in focus.

If your cam is built-in, like the ones that come with many laptops, they usually have auto focus. But if it doesn't, you have no choice but to hold the entire laptop in front of you. In that case, use a mirror that has a stand, an place it where the laptop normally is placed. You can then focus the cam on the image in the mirror.

Happy Camming

When I do a close up and then back off as it gets close to the

Hi.
If the camera is in autofocus, it might be hunting focus. This usually happens when you zoom out. You can avoid this by putting your camera in manual focus while zooming out.
Hope this helps!

Blurred image

This sounds like CCD sensor problem ( especially if the picture is "noisy" ). Canon and Sony fixes this particular problem free of charge since the CCD device installed in your camera should last + - 15 years if it is properly manufactured. Contact your agent and find out what their policy is.

you need to go to the service center for replacing the ccd image sensor...i know it is free for replacing that image sensor cause your camera is one of the recall product due to the production error of the image sensor...log on to the sony site and go the costumer service cause the free replacing of that part will be expired now..

Optic viewer blurred image

Not much that you can do with that, try adjusting the small focus lever on the underside of the viewfinder, as this might fix the blurred image, your lucky that you didn't, break something on the camera.

JVC camcorder with blurred images

It could be an issue with the dioptre adjustment: 1 Set the Power Switch to ?A? or ?M? while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch. 2 Make sure the LCD monitor is closed and locked. Pull out the viewfinder fully and adjust it manually for best viewability. So slide the rubber eyecup toward you. 3 Turn the Dioptre Adjustment Control until the indications in the viewfinder are clearly focused. The control is a litttle knob on the sied of eye-piece. While looking through the viewfinder, turn the knob until it is focused. Hope this helps. NewMediaMan

Hello nikkid, E..:.. indication means that you should contact the nearest Sony Service. Possibble cause of this error can be the optical unit itself. Best regards, Arpad

Camcorder does not focus

I would check to see if your camcorder is set for autofocus or manual. If it got changed to manual by accident, that would explain it (you can USE manual, but you'll have to keep adjusting focus). If this isn't the problem I would take it to the dealer you got if from or a repair station.
