That model does not support HD resolution Divx files. The avi was probably encoded at HD resolutions, not DVD or lower.

Hi, i am unable to view my videos on my Philips mp3 player (GoGear). The message on the screen reads; Use the philipsvideo converter application to convert files to a format that a player can read. Please...

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. Why is it that I canot get sound on all the vidios that I play back on my TV from my Screen Play I can only get sound on a few ?

Hi Mary,
Please check the format of the video that you are trying to play.
this Iomega ScreenPlay Plus HD Media Player is certified to play popular DivX video, and supports many of today's popular CODECs and file types, including H.264, WMV and MKV, as well as plenty of others. (For a comprehensive list of supported video, audio and photo files. Most probably the video that you are trying to play is .3GP or .FLV.

For this you need to convert the video files to supporting format like DivX®, DivX Plus™ HD (MKV), XviD, AVI(Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), ISO, VOB, MP4, MOV, MKV,H.264, WMV, RMVB and MPEG.

Thanks,
Satheesh

I have a portable Kawasaki DVD player. It does not play AVI videos. Tellme what to do please.

This normally depends on what FOURCC the AVI has encoded inside the file.

Look here at my DivX Rox!! facebook group for the correct DivX FOURCC that will normally work on most standalone players on AVI with FOURCC =DIVX or DX50

Most DVD players that have DivX support require these two FOURCC tags, DIV3,DIV4,DIV5 and DIV6 wont always work but sometimes you can change this without re-encoding using a batch FOURCC changer.

As a general rule of thumb even when you change the FOURCC of the AVI you may experience audio lag on the file it is best to convert all AVI's to DivX using the DivX Convertor that is available with the DivX Professional codec costs $19.99 (£13.99) and is well work the money.

I have had some success with Xvid AVI's with FOURCC XVID but with audio lag and video jerks.

Philips DVP3140/37 DivX player does not play certain DivX files. I have the region code as 0. For some DivX files it plays the video but the audio does not work. These work fine on computers.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware.
Check first the firmware of your DVD by opening the tray, then press 37 on the remote, and jot down the version of the firmware, then try to find an upgrade to your version or an improvement to it that fixes the original trouble with some DivX files.

Playing DivX

Try burning a different DivX file to another CD or DVD to see if it is a problem with the disc you have.

Probably the resolution of the dvd is too high. This machine does not play back HD AVI (divx) files.

Philips SA6185/02 8GB MP3 Player

It's unlikely to be a fault with the player.

I have just run the Arcsoft Convertor with a DivX encoded .AVI file and it processed correctly.

One possible cause of this problem is that you may not have DivX codecs installed on your PC.
To check this, try playing your .AVI file in Windows Media Player. If it doesn't play, then you will need to download the necessary codecs. Try www.divx.com

If it plays ok, then continue---->

I assume you are trying to convert and transfer directly to the SA6185.

In this case try converting the file before connecting the player and transferring:

Open Arcsoft Media Convertor
Drag the .AVI file into the program window
Click the "Select Player:" drop-down menu and select SA61xx manually.
The "Convert To" setting should default to Folder.
The default folder setting is My Documents/Arcsoft MediaConvertor/

Click "Convert" to start the process.

If this works, then when the process has finished, navigate to the converted file.
Connect the player to the PC, and drag & drop the .WMV file directly into the Video folder of the SA6185.
Disconnect the player when the display says "Ok to disconnect" and restart.
Go to the video option and your movie should be listed and ready to play back.

If the Convert process doesn't work then, the file is most definitely the cause of the problem. If so, post again with details of the file, and how it was created.
