Re: Hitachi 50 Rear Projection color TV
The easiest way is to turn the color all the way down to zero. Then notice the overall color of the screen, if it doesnt appear as a good black and white picture you will have to adjust the screens. To do that you have to remove the speaker grill cover and the small access panel, then depending on the chassis you will see a small square with 6 dials on it 3 on top and 3 on the bottom it will have screen stamped on it. adjust those 3 untill your screen appears the best black and white picture as possible. Now if your chassis only has 3 dials on the sgaure control box those are focusdont adjust them. . then the 3 CRT boards will have the dials you need adjust those for the best black and white picture. when your satisfied that you have a good black and white picture. then turn your color back up and adjust the tint.Let me know if you need more assistance.

When the tv is it totally black and white and the tv picture are good and clear wright?when the tv colors are fade in and out are clear up and when the tv picture it is in colors it is look good normal picture wright?Tv have no shadows of any kinds of colors when picture are good in colors wright?Yes,take ur hand make fist or take a wooden hamer bangs all around the tv bazel frame if the tv colors come back or tv stay in colors it is have good picture in colors.Tv it is still good just have components parts are cold soldering or CRT colors guns R,G,B just require resoldering works only.
Flash Focus magic button no longer work. The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.Tv colors lines R,G,B mis alignment, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures problems. The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. These parts, must be replaced on the tv convergence board to solved the tv convergence picture problems. The shop, will cost $300-350 for parts and labors.
I had similar symptoms about a year ago. Also came on sudden. The red convergence chip had burned out (poor heat sinking on this model Hitachi). Replacing the color convergence chips fixed it. ($50 for parts.) First, however, have you tried the "magic focus" function? That's explained in the manual, which is available online IIRC, but I'd have to look for the link if you need it.
If the picture was good prior to the 3D images, I would fix it. The convergence ICs either have poor connections or are defective. The IC is an STK392-110. There may be 2 inside the set. If you have this repaired, expect a labor cost in the $200 range. Request that the ICs be replaced rather than the board changed. This will maintain all of the internal settings and require only part replacement not a complete re-convergence adjustment.
use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.
