If you run through the setup and certify it knows about the center channel first, then test it with tiones, then maybe swap the center speaker with another one you might come to an answer.

Hi. my YAMAHA DSP-A1000, works well only the input selector does not to select. its all static noise and does not seem to lock onto an mode. i have to use the tape 2 monitor to hear music.

The INPUT SELECTOR is defective. Order part number VT148000; it costs $51.04. As of 14 Jan 2011, the part is on backorder until the later part of Feb 2011.

Register online to order the part yourself, or you can place your order by phone at the Yamaha Parts Department at (714) 522-9011 or (888) 892-6242, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm PDT.

I hope this post also clarifies the problem from the posts above.

IMPORTANT: After installing the new Input Selector switch, place the knob at 1230 position (between LD and DAT/Tape 1) BEFORE turning the unit ON. The Yamaha Tech said this procedure ensures the input source is properly programmed and aligned.

Problem with Yamaha dspA1000

Be sure you are using the AUDIO OUT on the vcr then going into a AUDIO INPUT on the DSP A1000, this will allow the DSP A1000 to amplify the audio line level.

Yamaha Dsp-A1000 5 ch amp Bought a used amp will be hooked to an awia reciever and speakers also have two subwoofers need help to install correctly witch connections to use

if you wanted to use your receiver as your controller and source then try to find out the receivber has got a bridge (jumper) between the pre-amp stage and the power amp stage. if your receiver does not have that, then you can just connect your receiver tape record out to one of your DSP inputs. subwoofers, the DSP has got a sub woofer out connector. you can use that (RCA type) to your sub woofers. put in series because DSP has got only one output for sub. or, you can connect your subs directly to the mains speakers, parallel connections. maybe one sub to your left and the other to your right channel.

Auto Shut Off After 3 Seconds...?

either your DSP output stage already damaged or maybe your speakers. have it both chekced for short. or worst both of them. DSP A1000 can drive as low a 4ohms on main channels but how is the power handling of your speakers? are you sure it has not exceeded the capacity of the speakers? or maybe you have over driven the speakers and they are still ok but your amp gut busted due to over drive. If the DSP amp is busted then it is due for replacement of power transistors and drivers. you can not disable the protection circuit. at least the design. it can be disabled by a tech person with a lot of modifications but i wont go for that or it can cause more damage to your equipments. i am from yamaha before and i have made conversions of protection circuits but it is too risky.

Dsp a1000 shutting off

it's not actually a problem my friend. it could be a problem with the output circuitry and your protection mode is activated. there ar ecases that systems shuts off with no appraent reason and those are isolated cases. If that were so on your units, the problem lies in the systems board (CPU) a defect in the backup power supply. also grounding problem of capacitor leaks. if there is no trouble in the power amp section and works well suddenly trips, some modifications can be done. i dont know if that can be solved by your technical experts on how to modify the protection circuit. the principle on protection circuits of yamaha is just one and same. but newer models has got better but sensitive designs. 2095 is about 3years younger than a1000. 2095 is almost all digital when a1000 uses mechanical switches.

No sound at all

The jumpers are there to connect the preamp section to the power amp section and are required for the receiver to opperate properly. Make sure the receiver is set to the proper input, in this case: CD. If there are A/B speaker connections, be sure the receiver is set to match the connectors you're using. If there is still no sound, profesional service will be required.

Dear Zforce, The Yamaha DSP A1000 has three different options of on-screen display. Try using the On-screen button on the remote control in order to remove the disturbing display. If this fails or if your remote control malfunctions then you should contact Yamaha for further assistance.
