Question about Cuisinart Supreme Grind CCM-16PC Grinder

Cuisinart grinder wobbles - Cuisinart Supreme Grind CCM-16PC Grinder

The problem with wobbly stems and related failures to grind are all related to the cracked feed tube. This tube is removable, it screws out. There is no way to put pressure on the feeder tube unless you somehow load something into the barrel that won't "Grind". Assuming that didn't happen, it's likely a faulty design or part defect that should be repaired by Cuisanart. Our machine is less than a year old, purchased at Costco - maybe a mass sale by Cuisanart to clear inventory of a less than adequate design.

One of the respondents indicated repair parts are available on the manufacturers website. A trip back to Costco or the noted website are the options I'll likely explore.

The model that you have is Costco's equivalent of the DBM-8 - the parts are exactly the same, so enter "DBM-8" as your model # on the Cuisinart website for parts.

SOURCE: cuisinart grinder stem wobbles

Search Cuisinart's website for DBM-8 - that model has exactly the same parts as your Cuisinart. If you call them, they may even cover it under warranty.

SOURCE: My cuisinart burr coffee grinder will not turn on

This model sometime gets plugged up with grounds.

Unplug the grinder, and remove the bin where the grounds go. Look inside the grinder part where the grounds come from the grinder into the bin. This should be clear, and you should be able to see part of the grinder wheel inside. If this is plugged up with grounds, then you'll want to clean it out, but it's possible that the motor has already burned out (we killed two of them last year at my office this way)

Pour out any whole beans that are in the top part. You can pour them in a bowl to save them, you don't have to throw them away.

Unscrew the top part until it detaches from the grinder. This will take 20 or more rotations -- just keep turning it counter-clockwise.

You'll want to do this next part over a sink or a counter that's easy to clean -- you're going to dump a lot of ground coffee.

Looking into the grinder from the top, you'll see the grinding wheel in the center, and packed coffee grounds around the edges. Use a plastic knife or bamboo skewer to clean out the ground coffee. Don't use a screwdriver, metal silverware, or anything metal, as this can damage the grinder housing. You also want to clean from the bin opening. When you're done cleaning, the grinder wheel should turn freely.

Reattach the top portion, put the bin back in place, and turn the grinder on. It should turn on and spin the grinder wheel. If it still doesn't, then your motor is burned out. :(

If it does turn, then put the coffee beans back in and enjoy a cup -o- joe!

I have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee maker that is about a year old. The lower half of the grinder gets stuck. It used to be occasionally but is happening more frequently. It is very hard to get it...

These are notorious for this problem. It is cause by the coffee grinder portion wearing out and sticking. After a while the grinder will fuse to the basket. It is cause by the spinning of the grinder and wear to the grinder shaft or coffee grounds getting into the shaft and causing wear. Either wan the only fix is a new basket.Send Cuisinart an email to complain and they may give you a new one free. I went through 3 before I gave up on the grind and brew model.

Hi, The ground coffee beans don't make it to the basket. How to fix this? Thank you,

First, you should call Cuisinart (800-726-0190) and see if your product is still under warranty. They may fix it for free. I was told that certain beans sometimes won't grind up fine enough to get through the screen in the grinder because of the oil in the bean. So first thing you can try is to freeze the beans and then try grinding them. If you have still have the problem, you either have an issue with your grinder or the grinder motor. You can buy a replacement grinder on Cuisinart's website for about $20. If its not the grinder, and its the motor the only thing you can do is find a spare motor online somewhere (impossible to find since they don't make spares for the motors; the only way to get one is from someone who has taken apart the same model for the parts). Hope this helps.

I had the problem also.  First, I cleaned the area very well of the caramelized coffee gunk. where the grinder goes.  I also filed away a few degraded areas on the grinder's plastic housing.  Haven't had the problem since.
