Garmin nuvi 1310 will not charge using pc. It will charge on car battery but batt charging symbol does not display.

A couple of things to try: 1) Use a different USB cable. The one you're trying to use my not be working properly. 2) Try the other USB ports. Most computers have more than one, and there may be an issue with the one you're using. Usually, two USB ports are supplied from the same connector inside the computer, so you might have to try all the USB ports. 3) Try charging the GPS on a different computer with both cables.

Most of the time, one of these solutions will solve the problem. Good luck! Please rate my reply, thanks.

My garmin seems to need help as it does not work after an all night charge. It goes on to the 2 or 3rd screen. Also, in the car,the cord might be weak at it says low battery, when I tried my daughters...

Have you tried plugging it into your computer to charge it yet? Garmin's can charge from your usb port or the car charger. If you dont have the USB cable for your computer you probably can get one at Bestbuy or Ebay. If after you charge it from your computer (and remember your computer has to be on while its charging) then I would suspect you have a bad battery in your unit. Then I would suggest to contact Garmin for repairs. Their website is www.garmin.com and they can help you from there. They have phone numbers and email address's to ask for tech support.

I hope this helps you out if it does please leave me feedback.

Street pilot 330 will not turn on when plugged into car power supply. Poosible battery charge needed?

Does the car charger cord have a fuse in it at the point where it plugs
into the lighter port, a lot of car chargers have a fuse, I can't tell
if your end, the part that goes inside the lighter port has a cap that you unscrew to replace the fuse, and garmin does not show it.

If the car is running, and it does not work, there is something wrong with the car adapter, or the unit at the plug, the battery should not have anything to do with it.

If the battery starts the car the battery is fine.

Garmin Nuvi acts like its plugged to a computer in the car

This is the problem with the Nuvi 2xx series... the charging port connector on the rear is weak and eventually the connections fail. It does not have a quick disconnect port like the Nuvi 3xx, 6xx or 7xx series.

The connector has to be either resoldered or replaced. The bad connections are whats causing the problem, making your Nuvi think its connected to a PC rather than a true charging power source.

Charging

1. please check if the charger socket in you car is working.
You could use other deivce like a MP3 player for charging in the same socket.
If other device is not charging then the problem could be with the socket.

Check the fuse associated with the car charger.output

2.Looks like Nuvi charger has a known lose contact issue. It would be advisable to let Garmin know the issue and they will send a new one.

Garmin nuvi 260w not operating while plugged in

Based on your description, you are doing it right. You said....
"when i connect it to the car charger it shows the computer sysmbol and starts charging. there is no other usb port on the device"
That is correct. It takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge a low battery.
There is only a mini USB port on a 260.
It's used for charging and downloading updates of software or maps.

GARMIN STREET PILOT-330 GPS

Hello KTFORE1,

The Street Pilot 330 comes with both a vehicle power cord and a USB cord for connecting the unit to the computer. If I understand you correctly the GPS isn't getting power from the vehicle power cord. Does the GPS charge if connected to a computer using the USB cable? If so the problem is likely the power cord or cigarette lighter socket you are using. If the GPS doesn't charge from USB port on your computer then the problem is likely the GPS itself.

If you determine that the cable is the source of the problem, check and replace the cable's fuse. You will probably also want to check and replace your vehicle fuses as the circuit that powers the cigarette lighter might have a blown fuse. If replacing the fuses doesn't solve the issue then you might need to replace the power cord.

Best Regards.

WON'T CHARGE FROM MY VEHICLE

Yes you are correct, it looks like your accessory power socket is working. 1: try resetting the device, peel back the silver screen surround to find the reset button. 2: make sure it still charges from your home charger if you have one. 3: clean the plugs and charging socket on the device with an alcohol free CD wipe. 4: borrow a car charging cable if you know anyone with the same device or replace the cable if not. message back if this is no help. FYI typing entirely in capital letters is considered shouting in textual communications.

Internal battery won't charge

Common issue. Steps to troubleshoot/solve:
1. Pull off face, press reset tab.
2. If unit wont turn on or if turns off immediately, connect to home computer using mini usb on side of gps (any usb cord that fits will do). This will charge the internal gps battery, which is discharged.
3. You will not be able to see the gps charge indicator while the usb cord is plugged into the unit. To check charge level, disconnect it, turn it on, and note the large "battery" icon.
4 Do you have a dead internal battery? If the gps holds a charge from your computer usb port, you don't.
5. If you have a dead battery, Google DIY replacement. With some soldering it can done for $15 total.
6. If you don't have a dead battery, the issue is charging from the cigarette lighter socket. Your car socket may have blown a fuse (check car manual). Your charger unit may have blown a fuse (unscrew the tip, check fuse inside). Also, some car sockets don't work when the ignition is off. Test yours.
7. There is a good chance the connection of the charger wire to the gps cradle is the problem. Fiddle with that. Replacement cradles are available for the c340 at about $25.
8. If your unit is not charging from the cradle/socket, buy a 12v usb cord. Plug into socket and into usb port of the gps. This is a workaround or alternative to buying a new cradle.
9. IMPORTANT: observe the "battery" icon while driving, esp. if you have doubts about charging. Basically, if you can see the icon, you're not connected to an outside (car or computer) power source. That is, if you can see the battery-charge indication, it means your battery is currently discharging and unless you get another power source to work it will be dead in a few hours.
