Attached to the lint trap housing are two devices. One is the thermostat, the other a thermal fuse. Check each for continuity. The igniter will not glow if either device has failed.

Whirlpool Model LGN2000KQ0 ignighter glows, flame turns on for a few minutes then it goes out and the ignighter never glows again nor does the flame return

The problem is the dryer coils have failed. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help troubleshooting a gas dryer

Not getting hot. vent line is free of lint. Maytag Atlantis/gas

Chances are the hot surface glow igniter is not working. Most likely it is burned out. Set the controls to dry in high heat and note if the glowing coil does in fact glow. If not, it needs to be replaced. Open the burner access door and then turn the dryer on. Watch inside the burner compartment for the glow coil to light up and glow. If all the controls are set correctly on the front control panel and the dryer is running, but the glow coil fails to glow, you've located the defective part. The glow coil will need to be replaced.
To remove the coil, turn off the gas first. Unplug the dryer from the electrical wall plug. Then remove the entire gas valve as an assembly. The nut on the gas valve to remove it from the gas supply pipe turns counter clockwise. There will be small sheet metal screws used to secure the plate to which the burner assembly parts are attached. The plate holds the entire assembly and is attached to the bottom of the dryer's cabinet.
Next, remove the glow coil from the burner assembly. Take the entire assembled part to the local appliance retail parts store for a replacement coil. Glow igniters are fragile and they break easily. Handle and install the new igniter carefully. Glow igniters are a non-returnable and non-refundable electric component.
Be advised that some new replacement igniters do not come with quick disconnect ends. In this case, it is OK to cut off the quick, disconnect from the old igniter and attach it to the new igniter. Simply clip off the wires several inches above, disconnect the old igniter, attach to the wires of the new igniter, and wire nut the two ends together. Repeat the process to attach the other set of wires and wire nut them together. There is no positive nor negative polarity to be concerned with.
Additional Suggestions: Read the manufacturer's online Web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.

Model DLE2516W, will not heat up. lint catcher is clean, but unit only puts out cool air. it is only 2 years old.

check the pipe that goes outside make sure it is clean also. if so there should be a door or panel one the bottom of the dryer remove and see if this area is clean also, if so with the panel off start the dryer and see if the ignighter glows red . the ignighter mast reach a certian glow before the gas valve will open this could be the problem. let me know how this goes

Maytag dryer mdg9206bww runs but will nto get hot. Gas does not come on. Have volt meter and exp. working on electrical equipment but do not understand sequence and where should have voltage on settings.

This most likely has a "Glow Rod" type of igniter for the gas, along with a photosensitive glow/flame detector. Most glow rods are ceramic with an electrically conductive coating that makes them a resistive element. They will last until the ceramic breaks. Be careful with it, if it's not broken, it is very fragile, and so is the replacement.

Gas dryer needs a glow rod, how do you open the cabinet?

I don't know how old your dryer is, but if it's old enough to be made like what I'm familiar with here goes:
First, disconnect the power cord from the outlet and turn off the gas supply for safety.
Second, the panel under the door should pop off at it's top corners, and rests on metal tabs at the bottom. It should come off easily with a little tug from your fingers.
With that removed, the burner assembly should be exposed, it is easily removed, after removing the two hex-head screws retaining it, gas connection and some wires.
The glow rod is very fragile, handle very carefully.
Replace the glow rod, the re-installation of the burner is the reverse of removal. Be sure the gas connection does not leak. Check with soap solution, look for bubbles.

Hope you find this helpful.

Dryer Ignitor turns on then back off with no flames afterwards

the government mandated that gas appliances start using electronic ignighters because pilot lights would keep blowing gas even after they blew out now the way they work is calibrated on how much amps the glow bar draws the rest of the amps go to the safety valve to open it when the glow bar is drawing enough amps to be hot enough to ignite the gas now what this means is even though the glow bar glows it can still not be hot enough to ig night the gas so the safety valves don't get the right amps to the solenoids to open so you could have a weak ignighter or bad solenoids on the safety valves now i would lean toward the solenoids but i would buy both and first replace the solenoids then the ignighter if the solenoids work take the ignighter back

Dryer Ignitor

yes its right on the money it takes about 30 seconds for the ignighter to reach enough tempeture to open the safety valve this assures that the ignighter is hot enough to instantly ignite the gas before the safety valve will release it
