Question about Canon PowerShot A560 Digital Camera

1 Answer

It won't turn on

The camera has worked great for a year. Then suddenly when I put a new battery in the camera it drained it within 5 pictures. Now when I put in new batteries it won't even turn on. Has anyone else had this problem?

Exact same problem. Put brand new batteries in and it immediately give me the low battery symbol. I take one picture and it says 'Change the Batteries'....not happy

I have the same problem. I bought the camera for a trip last November. It worked great on the trip. Have used it lightly since. Yesterday I put new batteries in --- camera would only work for couple of shots then low battery light kept flashing. I tested the batteries with a meter... batteries were OK - good 1.5 volts. I tested more batteries -- same problem. I went to the store and bought more batteries (alkaline) - still same problem. I charged the Ni rechargeable batteries that came with the camera -- still same problem.

Same problem, camera has been great until now and I think I am outside of warranty. Canon gave me a name of a company to take it to and they think it will be around $60 plus shipping to fix it.

Pretty frustrating as this camera is a great product.

Exactly the same problem! I did all the same things with the battery testing. I can take a few shots, then the low battery icon starts flashing.

Yes - I have the same problem - I got the camera from Amazon - and after about thirty minutes use it started to indicate low on batteries - I thought it might have been cheap batteries provided with the camera. Funny thing is - low battery signal doesnt stop me from taking photos.

There could be something going on the battery contacts. Your camera may still be under warranty. I would check it out with Canon

Kodak Z1085 IS - drains battery even when camera is not on

the camera takes 1.5v to operate it
anything less the camera will shut down
recharge batteries are only 1.4v so at full
recharge it won't last long
The best batteries are litheum that have the right
volts and capacity to keep the camera going.
try turning or the camera stablizer setting...
might save your battery power.

Lens Error Message

Hi there

I had the same problem a year after I bought my camera. I returned it to Nikon and they fixed it and returned it. The problem reoccurred 3 times and each times Nikon repaired it free of charge. Then after a year it went again and, when I returned it to Nikon they sent me a new camera. Within a couple of months the new camera had the same problem. I have since resolved it with new batteries! The original coolpix rechargeable batteries do not seem to recharge properly so when I put ordinary AA batteries in it suddenly worked. Good luck.

Camera won't retrack

August - this sounds like the same problem I had with my Finepix510. Turns out the new unopened package of batteries I put in weren't fresh enough and weren't working. When I got truly fresh batteries, everything started working just fine again.

Hope that turns out to be true for you.

Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!

I have this problem as well. I thought it was a problem with my NiMH batteries. So, I bought a volt meter to make sure the batteries worked. I have 8 AA NiMH batteries. I charged them all up and tested them with the volt meter. They were all good to go. However, no matter what I put in the camera one of two things happens:
1. I get the "change batteries" message.
2. I don't get the message, but the next time I check the camera (a few days later), one of them is totally drained.
Something is very wrong and I plan on contacting Canon.

Camera won't turn on at all

Make sure the batteries you try are new and not cheap crap, or improperly charged or old recharghables. You can by a card reader that plugs into your USB for $15 - $50 dollars and download the photos then. Or bring your memory card into just about any photo store to have them put it onto a cd for you which you can then copy onto your computer. $5-$10

Drains batteries

I have the same problem with mine..seems to be a common problem. I called Nikon and they said to send the camera in and they would take a look and let me know the cost of repair. Unfortunately my one year warranty is up, if your's is not I suggest you take care of this ASAP.
