Re: Locked up on rewind and will not turn on or off?
1st - make sure the lock is not engaged 2nd - reset the player - use a small paperclip to trigger the reset hole (when the player is turned on) - it was successful when the player turns off 5-7 seconds

if you cant pull it possible engine failure or debris in recoiler --check and inspect pull cord --remove plug and try to pull if engine turns it was air locked and should be able to start if locked solid have an internal failure -----if cord wont rewind return spring failure ,,rope jammed or debris
There is a spring in the bottom of the rewind knob that holds the crank, and it sounds like it has dislodged or the plastic rewind knob is cracked (try small amount of super glue for this). You can rewind the knob off the shaft (open the film door and put something in the rewind fork to keep the shaft from moving) and then turn the rewind knob opposite the direction of the arrow (if the arrow says turn clockwise, then turn counter clockwise). This will allow you to remove the rewind knob assembly and check it for damage, etc. Also, there is a small shaft at the end of the crank. Make sure it is not bent.
Does it not close or does it not lock? If it does not lock it may be the light seals are obstructing the door. If it will close but not lock open the camera, pull up the rewind knob, see if the release slider is operating.
Lift up the rewind crank. Press the film rewind button on the bottom of the camera and turn the crank clockwise. Rewind until the tension on the crank lessens, indicating that the film leader has been released from the take-up spool. Pull up on the film rewind crank and the back will open.
Could be motor locked up or cord caught in the rewinding mechanism. Remove top engine cover and see if cord pulls now. If not then in winder. If it does see if you can turn the motor over by hand with cover off. If not maybe engine locked up. Did the engine run low on oil? if so when motor cooled, things may have locked up. Try removing spark plug, and light oil to cylinder and let soak.Turn engine with wrench.
Hi, The battery does not affect the back cover opening. The back can be opened by lifting up on the film rewind knob but on this model, there is a lock. Lift the rewind knob and at the base of the rewind knob is lifted from, there is a safety lock. You have to move this safety lock and lift the film rewind knob at the same time to open back.
open the film door and charge the shutter. are the drive and take up sprockets turning? if they are then the film was not loaded properly. be sure to push enough film leader into the take up spool bars.
if the spools are not turning then a gear or spring ( advance lever return lock ) is broken.
there are no new parts for the ME Super however some camera repair shops have good used parts that can be used. get an estimate first.
Has the rewind knob become unscrewed or just won't turn? It does have to be turned clock-wise to rewind the film. If you would happen to turn it counter-clockwise, it would either jam or the knob itself would become undone from the rewind shaft.
