We are trying to connect a neighbour to internet using her new laptop with vista o/s. tried installing Zoom X6 but only x3, x4 and x5 on disc. DSL light only blinks never steady and nothing on the internet light. msg says computer cant find modem ven tho'I can see it in the control panel, also no shortcut to zoom on desktop as expected at end of installation, do we have wrong disc? how can we fix this for her as already been two months same problem trying to use a speedtouch 330 modem previously...any advice welcome..
Contacted the company who gave the good advice of changing the DPI settings and also showed us 2 different ways of how to do it. For anyone who has the same problem try right clicking the desktop and click on personalise, adjust font size to default and save,. Alternatively click start, control panel, appearance & themes, change screen resolution, settings, advanced, DPI to normal 96 DPI and save. Thanks for your help we will always check this site if problems in future.

is it wireless connection or ethernet? Zoom routers have a firewall and when you have something connected that the firewall doesnt like (Xbox 360 or Gaming) it will drop the connection. goto zoom.com/x6 and it will give you instruction on how to by-pass the firewall using an different IP address.

you need a ethernet network card, if you want it connected to the x6 directly, or you can get a wireless card for the desktop.
the instruction for setup the x6 is straightforward. but you need to follow it to the letter, otherwise it won't work.
the internet light, is usually a blinking green, showing that it's seeing the internet signal. The only reason it's red, is cause there's no net signal..double check the phone line going into the back of your router, and change it if you need to. check your computers warranty here 4 FREE
If the Internet light is off it means you are not either authenticated at your provider or your configurations are wrong on the modem. If you go to your command prompt and type ipconfig and check your IP address and your default gateway. The IP address on your default gateway would be your router put that IP address on your browser and should be able to see your modem setting and any error messages that could help resolve your issue
