Sometimes the ballast can whine but most times it is the color wheel as it has a motor that spins it at high RPM.As they fail they'll make a squealing type noise and keep the set from coming up. If the you can pinpoint the sound (it would be right nest to the lamp) then its the wheel.
I think you have a shorted hori output Transistor NTE2324 if it makes a low squealing sound also ck capacitor 114,120,150 if 150 is puffed up on top it is bad 2200uf 16v use 25v and other 2 are 220uf 35v.
The set is shutting down to prevent further damage. There is a problem with the high voltage circuit. The most common failure part is the horizontal output transistor. Figure on $20 or so for parts plus the local labor rate to get the total repair cost.
DOES THE TV SEEM TO BE CYCLING ON AND OFF, BUT NEVER COMES ON? WHAT I MEAN IS DOES IT SEEM TO BE TRYING TO COME ON, BUT SHUTS DOWN IMMEDIATELY CONTINUOSLY AND WILL ONLY STOP CYCLING THIS WAY UNTIL IT'S UNPLUGGED? DOES IT MAKE A SQUEAKING SOUND FROM BEHIND THE SET WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING?
You say didn't do anything, Like did you hear a squealing sound or did you see led lights on front of panel or just dead nothing? If dead and nothing then look for fuse blown in power supply if not then there maybe a small sound coming out of set when you press power if so then the power supply is trying to start up then you will have to look elsewhere like horizontal or convergence or vertical areas.
If you replace the lamp and need to reset the Lamp Timer Reset procedure is:
With The Set In Standby Press Display, 5, Vol Up, Power on the remote control
Press Jump 3. Or,
To Display The Lamp Time Press 2 Nine Times.
To Reset Press 3, Mute, Enter. One of these should work on your model. Make sure you replace the bulb first. There is a possibility that the ballast could be damaged by a defective bulb as well.
