The chucks on the 11236 are designed to be removed, if you were not aware of this it may look like the tool has failed, it has not. To replace the chuck set the chuck back on the shaft of the tool, grip the outer collar of the chuck and rotate it counterclockwise while pushing down .The chuck will drop into a set of grooves on the shaft and lock there, give it a wiggle after to make sure its seated. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it. To remove it just grip the collar turn counterclockwise and pull up, the chuck will come off.
I was looking for how to repair the seals since I was seeing black oil run down my bits. But after considering that the last time it was used was when I loaned it out for a big job -- to my mechanic. I noticed every bit was well greased when he returned it. So I removed the chuck. Sure enough, it is not a shaft seal, just too much lube in the chuck. A quick spray with brake cleaner and blow off all gritty residue. Now wipe a thin coating of hi temp grease and it is back on the drill.
