Question about HP DeskJet 612c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer not printing

I recently changed the OS from Windows ME to Windows 2000.

I have checked the drivers have been installed correctly but the printer does not print.

Status on the print window reads " idle".

The message under printer/access reads " Server not available"

Any suggestions please

Thanks

Maybe you have set the printer to a wrong port. recheck port address or reinstall printer driver.

Installed HP deskjet 890c printer to new windows 7 laptop - purchased new usb printer cable - will not print from laptop but will print test page from printer

Before we conclude that cable is faulty, we have few things that need to be checked.

  • In the device manager check for "Other Devices" and expand it, you may see an device with exclamation sign on it. Right click and uninstall the device.
  • Disconnect the printer USB and reconnect it back.
  • Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver.
Note: When you connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer, Windows 7 activates Windows Update. Windows Update searches online for the most recent product driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more recent than the driver stored in Windows 7, the computer downloads and installs the updated driver. The Windows Update process takes place automatically. Therefore, you might not notice that the process is in progress.
If you dont see any notification on connecting the printer, try plugging to different USB port.
If non if these works, replace the cable.
Good Luck!!

Tip

I need Postscript drivers for Lexmark printer T630.

Hi.

This printer supports Postscript, PPDS, and PDF emulation only on systems up to Windows 2000, on Mac OS X up to 10.6, and on Solaris.
Windows 7and Vista are not fully compatible with this printer, and the printer will not have full functionalities on this systems.

If you have Win XP, Win dows Server 2003, Win 98, Win 2000 or Mac OS, then all you have got to do is installing full factory driver software.

If you have Windows 7 or Vista, then you should upgrade the printer to get full features. Lexmark has opted for not updating this printer software. Full software release for Windows Vista and Windows 7 does not exist.

The drivers and software for this printer can be downloaded from Lexmark website, using the links below:

Lexmark_AAG_WinXP_PS_Driver- Post script driver.

System PCL Driver for Microsoft Windows XP and Server 2003

System PCL Driver for Microsoft Windows 2000.

PCL6 driver for Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and Me.

Printing solution for Mac OS X v.10.6.

Print driver for Sun Solaris 10 x86 systems.

Network print support for Linux.

Here the full driver installation procedure : How to install a Lexmark printer without the driver and software disk.

The printer may still work on Vista and Windows 7 using the built in drivers, but it will have limited functionality. See: Windows 7 Information.

Regards.

For more information about your in-OS driver, and to see workarounds for lost functionality, go to our Frequently Asked Questions below. Install the Windows 7 in-Operating System (in-OS) print driver When you connect your printer to the computer, Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification lets you know when installation begins and when it is complete. You do not have to download any software or insert the product CD. Step one: Install the in-OS driver Follow these steps to install the in-OS driver in Windows 7. I've recently attached my iP6700D to my home network. 2 different Laptop computers can access it and successfully print from it. One , a Lenovo is using Windows 7 OS operating system, while the other...

I would highly suggest moving both computers on to the same operating system having two different os on a network is always more of a head ache than its worth for the most part however if you have you heart set on this particular configuration you need to go into your printer setting before each print session to change the configuration as from what I see the printer does not have any additional software to help it understand the two different print modes. If for some reason neither printers are working atm I would suggest making sure all connections are hooked up properly and than try hooking the printer up directly to each computer to find out where the problem lies also before doing this visit this website to ensure all your drivers are up to date is has a link to the most recent driver also make sure you download and install the right drivers as per OS requirement ie. windows 7 vista xp

hope this helps
please leave feedback
thanks

Mac os 10.5

I think the problem is that lexmark never made this printer mac os compatible. I have one and the disk it came with was for windows only, while i have a 3300 series and that came with a disk for both windows and mac.
