I need to know what formats you can record a DVD and which is bes

Hey!
I am now using Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum which can turn DVDs into almost any video format directly including FLV video you have mentioned. So you can have a try of it and convert your DVD into FLV video directly. You can free download it at it's official web: http://www.dvd-ripper-copy.com/dvd-ripper-platinum.html#181. For how to use it, you can refer the official guide at: http://www.dvd-ripper-copy.com/guide/dvd-ripper-tutorial.html#181.
Hope that helps.

Can't hear sound on Windows Mediaplayer from DVD I recorded

I've been pondering this one for a day or so - at least two possibilities:
1) There is a mute/audio-off hotbutton inside Windows Media Player itself - click on it and see if the audio works. Alternatively, you can try playing a music file in Windows Media Player to see if THAT file has sound.
2) You need a better Codec - the free version of the K-Lite Codec has limited audio support. There are no easy answers to this problem. I frequently use my computer for converting VHS's to DVD, so I finally plunked down the $50 to purchase Nero 9 and all of its codecs. Before that, however, I used VLC Media Player (free) - it has DVD/VOB audio support.

As a side note, if you wanted to use your computer to convert the VHS's to DVD, you would need a plain-old VCR, a red/white/yellow cable, a DVD burner, and a product called the Dazzle DVD Recorder from Pinnacle. You can hook the VCR straight to your computer and burn away. To get the best experience however, I would also get a program like Nero, Roxio, etc. to do the actual DVD burning (although the Dazzle's native software is perfectly capable of doing the job).

Good luck!

Playing dvd-r on machine

This DVD player does play DVD-R

I burn lots of DVD on my computer from my video camera.

The very best quality DVD for burning from your computer is Taiyo Yuden. Other brands seem to work fine for me also. You should only buy a small quantity of DVD's until you decide which brand you like best. Then it is a good idea to buy 50 or more at a time. There is not much price difference in brands. I get 50 at a time for about $35.

You need a decent software to capture and edit the video, and to create a DVD.

I use Adobe Encore and Roxio Easy Media Creator 10.

For the easiest to use software I recommend Roxio. It makes a nice DVD and it captures video as well.

If your video camera has a firewire (IEEE) port for digital video you can capture the video with Windows movie maker, Roxio or any software that came with your camera.

You must also have a firewire port on your computer. If it doesn't have one, it is easy to install a PCI card with one.

If your camera doesn't have a firewire port, you may need to use the analog video (composite or S-video) , but you will need a video capture device. You would also need to input the audio seperately on your line input of your audio card.

I can help you further if you need it, but it would be very helpful to know how you plan on capturing the video and what type of devices you are using.

let me know if you need more help, and if this information was helpful a good rating is a great way you could say thanks for the help.
