I installed Windows XP on my Lap top and since then I have no sound on my Compaq Pressario F527US Notebook PC. Can I get a free download of sound driver from the net?

i have an acer aspire 3000 with no sound. its not the speakers b/c when i plug in head phones they still don't work. any ideas? do i need a new sound card or new drivers?
