My DVD/RW drive sudden;y won't read cd's. When I tell it to open, it spits the cd out and tells me to insert a disc. It read them fine earlier. It is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ8505

- Um, I bought the computer last week brand new, and it has nothing to do with burning, since didn't burn anything. If all I needed was a new one, I could get that on my own. I was looking more for common configuration for these dvd-ram drives that might prevent them from reading cd's.
-   I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 and I've tried to burn and import CDs on iTunes, play DVDS on Quicktime, and use program CDs for various programs on my computer. I've gone to "My Computer" and it shows every other drive I have BUT the CD drive. It's simply not reading my CDs.

hi, it seems ur DVD drive is little bit aged. or sometime it happens that, after an overburn it stops reading cd. any way it is possible to repair the drive in either case, or go for a new one.
