The copier and the printer work just fine, but when trying to scan, the two warning lights near the power button, as well as the power light flashes. Nothing else occurs. There is neither a shortage of ink nor a paper problem.

The yellow flashing light means there is a problem with the feature you're trying to use. If you're trying to scan, it could be that there is not a destination program set up to scan to. You can try using the software to scan instead of the scanner itself to make sure it's not a hardware problem. If you installed the HP software included with the all in one, there should be a troubleshooter you can use to help diagnose the problem as well.
Are you using Vista? I know that the Scan button doesn't work with Vista. There's a way around it though (if Vista is the problem.) Click the Windows Vista icon, click All Programs, and then click Windows Photo Gallery (mine was in a subfolder.) Click File, and then click Import From Camera or Scanner. Click Import, and then click Scan. There is also a similar way to scan with the Paint program.
"Unplug the Scanner cable from the computer.
"Unistall the Scanner drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the Scanner appications
"restart the computer
"try to download drivers from the website
"after installing drivers and software it will ask you to connect the Scanner.
"then you can connect the Scanner and and try to Scan.
I have an F340 HP all-in -one and the work arouind for me is to go into paint program and click "FILE" scroll down to from "SCANNER/CAMERA" and click scanner then save file.Windows Vista does NOT recognise the scan button on the actual printer ..I got this from the HP website cause I had same issue -- perhaps this will work you ..If not try going to their software support...enter your product and see if they have solution available for your printer model if this doesn't work for you....
