Contact your at&t service they should be able to tell you how to connect the router to your desktop and not your laptop

Can you connect directly to your router using an ethernet cable?

Go into your settings on the router and choose a security key.

Set the same key for your laptops etc..

Make sure that the modem is plugged in to the wireless linksys router. Plug in your desktop to the ethernet port of the router and check if you're able to get online. If you have a cable or dsl connection, make sure that your router is already configured to work with the modem. Your laptop should automatically detect the wireless network. Scan your wireless network by right clicking the wireless network icon and click on view available wireless networks. The default name of the linksys router is linksys. Try to connect and see if you're able to get online.

Router won't log into it's IP address online

It appears to me that you have everything plugged into the desktop PC. This is not the way that it should be done. Plug the cable modem into the wireless router via the Internet/WAN port. Plug your desktop PC into one of the ports numbered 1-4. Now connect to the router via the wireless connection for the router and you should be able to now connect to the internet with your laptop.
If it still does not work, power down everything in this order: Laptop, Desktop, Router, Cable Modem. Bring everthing up in the reverse order (Cable Modem, Router, Desktop, Laptop) waiting for each device to stablize before moving to the next.
Once you get everything working, turn on your wireless security (WPA not WEP) asap to keep your computers and surfing safe, and to keep intruders off your network.

Okay so if I understand your question....your desktop has DSL and you want to connect your laptop to the same DSL connection? If that is the case then what you need is a router. A router will share the DSL connection between the desktop and the laptop. A wireless router will allow your laptop to surf wirelessly if it has a wireless adapter or you can plug it into the ethernet port on the laptop. You can purchase one here. The instructions are pretty simple and straightforward and should be included with the router.

Cannot connect new laptop to internet

Do you have a router set up? If not two things you can do:

1) Buy and setup wireless router wired with desktop and wireless with laptop.

OR

2) Remove network cable from back of Desktop and plug into laptop each time you want to use Internet. Cheaper option but more hassle to switch back and forth.

Unable to connect to internet on desktop pc

does your utp cable crimped correctly? have you tested this? try to use this utp cable to your laptop if its okay then follow the instruction as what is written in the manual, i also experience like this with my 4pc's before and i found out that the utp cable i crimped was not properly done. in the case of the DI-524 this is just a plug and play you don't need to configure.

Well, the connection may come from the same company but the way you connect is probably completely different. First, we have to clarify a couple of things. Do you connect wirelessly or through an ethernet cable (hardwire)? Next, if wireless, do you have a wireless router at home? It's okay to say who your internet service provider (ISP) is. Sometimes, that will also give us a hint about how the connection is supposed to be set up. For example, Comcast offers wireless routers with their service that don't need to be run through a manual configuration. Qwest, on the other hand, has a wireless "bridge" connected to their DSL modems that needs to have settings plugged in to work.

Just let us know a little more and we'll be happy to help.
