Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Please be accurate.

Kranky have you had any use or first hand experience with what yoursaying about a xbox 360.... Cause its wrong and makes no sense. RROD isthe RROD. Theres one fix which voids the warranty and nothing whichyou have posted is close. Its free to get it serviced, so get itserviced. It's bad advice and completely misleading to tell people otherwise, thats not what fixya isabout.

there is warranty for all red ring of death. That is why i said know what you are talking about. which even as you repost a comment you still dont know what you are talking about. the warranty wont end for red ring of death till 2011. Is it 2011, no its not Then its free. If you searched the web as youd said you would end up right at microsofts red ring of death page. Loose cables and everything else is a different error code. Try to not be false or misleading as it doesn't help anyone. Also maybe google the problem before hand so your not false and misleading. Also i don't think a customer support had your son do anything other then verify it was red ring of death and mailed him the PRE PAID shipping package for the xbox.

They might have said if you want to loose all your saves try the hard drive reset. By you saying take out the hard drive it shows that you know nothing on the subject. The point of fixya is to be an expert and provide true and accurate knowledge, which you know and understand firsthand. Not i heard my sons friend say something that doesn't happen. To do what you are saying would void your warranty. A free Extended Warranty is hard to come by and even dumber to void. From what everyone who knows xbox 360s understands is that. Where ever you are in the world it is free to have the xbox 360 serviced under warranty till 2011. The point is not to argue with you here. But for you to understand fixya.com and be true and accurate in your solutions. Not just throw something out there and hope you get the rating.

Well if you like to help people then make sure your actually helping. As i know they didnt tell him to unplug the hard drive wether you were there or not. It voids the warranty and no company tech support will tell you to do that over the phone. Especially when its covered past the warranty period. By giving everyone an extended warranty that will last long into the next generation of gaming consoles.

For your information the first option was told to my sons friend by customer support after they had him try upplugging everything and rebooting it with no luck.I had found some info on the web beforehand that we were going to try.I have ALWAYS serviced my kids game consoles myself by searching for help on the internet and knock on wood it has ALWAYS worked and saved alot of time and money. From what I understood of the question being asked it is not free for him to get it serviced and/or there is no warranty.

Some XBox games have both a 360 and original XBox version, so you can't play them on the 360. Other games simply aren't compatible. Your game may fall into one of those two groups.

All the games I play come up on the TV really blurry

It could be the connectors on the back of the system or the actual video card. i would double check the settings on the 360 if you can see them. If not call 800-4-myxbox and talk to the technical support personnel they are very good to work with.

The region code is wrong,x-box 360

go to the settings menu and if you dont see region right away go to system settings. It will either say region or locale, depending on if you have the new xbox experience or not. if you never had xbox live on it and you bought it new you have the old version.

One red light and E74

You see the lower-right quadrant of the Ring of Light flash red on the front of your Xbox 360 console. You also receive the following error message in multiple languages on your television screen or display: E74. System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support.

You will see the following indicator on the front panel of your Xbox 360 console, which will repeatedly flash on and off:

If one red light is flashing and you see a different error message or code than the one listed above, or you don’t see an error message or code, your console may be experiencing a different issue. 1. Turn off the console, disconnect all the cables, and then reconnect all the cables. Turn the console back on.
  2. Turn off the console, and then disconnect any accessories that are connected. For example, disconnect any Xbox 360 controllers, Xbox 360 Memory Units, and the Xbox 360 Hard Drive. With the accessories disconnected, restart the console to see whether the problem still occurs. This can help you determine whether the console or an accessory is experiencing the problem. If you determine that an accessory is consistently causing the error, try borrowing another accessory of the same type and testing again using that accessory.
  3. If you continue to experience this problem, contact Xbox Customer Service.

Note If the agent cannot help you resolve this issue, you may have to return the console to Microsoft for repair.

Xbox 360 red ring of death

The sellers of these guides are just greedy people trying to make a quick buck. Repairing a 360 console is not for a total novice at all....to even open the case requires a certain tool, research and patience. In the wrong hands it's easy to cause perm damage to the 360 motherboard. Repairers like myself prefer to work on unopened consoles and to be able to conduct repairs properly, without having to inform the owner that because of careless tampering they will need a new 360.
Also I have been doing repairs on ebay for ~6months and I am still fine tuning and improving my repair methods, Be aware that 3 red rings is merely the error reporting mechanism as there are ~12 secondary (actual) errors that can cause the feared red rings of death.

Send it to a repairer who has experience and can prove customer satisfaction and your console will be in good hands. If you are in Aus look me up on Ebay - 1badgringo

Not entirely sure but maybe the disk drive bricked, though I wouldn't replace it without looking into it more.  But it would make sense consider the noises.  Was there anything attached to the disc or was the disc damaged after this incident?
