It sound like you have a power supply fault caused by a display failure.
Without a service manual and test gear, I don't think there is much likelyhood of an effective repair.
Contact Samsung for a dealer in your area is my advice.
Hope that helps.

Rag burnt, is it safe to use the micro? The rag burnt badly, there was smoke and a strong bad smell persists. Is it safe to keep on using the micro, what can be done about the smell?

Hello -

It is probably safe to use the microwave oven after removing the burned smell.

I found some methods for removing a burned smell from a microwave.

From:
https://blog.bostonappliance.net/5-foolproof-ways-to-get-burnt-popcorn-smell-out-of-the-microwave/

(Quote)
1. Fill a bowl with 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.
  • Microwave it for 4-5 minutes and leave it with the door shut for 10-15 minutes.
  • Steam will loosen smell-causing detritus stuck to the walls. Vinegar absorbs odors, even stubborn ones like burnt popcorn smell.
  • After the waiting period, remove the bowl and wipe the inside of the microwave down with a paper towel
2. Not good enough? Okay - soak a sponge with vinegar.Place some baking soda on top and microwave the sponge for 25 seconds.
  • Wipe the inside of the microwave with the sponge.
  • Don't forget the glass tray and the microwave door.
3. If steps 1-2 don't remove all the grime, soak cotton balls with acetone-free nail polish remover and wipe down the inside of the microwave.
  • Even stubborn stains should come out.
  • Wipe down the inside with soap, then vinegar water, to remove the polish remover.
  • We recommend following through with step 4 to get rid of chemical smells.
4. Banish the remaining smells with the power of citrus.
  • Peel two oranges or slice a lemon in half.
  • Place the orange peels or lemon slices in a bowl of water (1-2 cups).
  • Microwave it for 4 minutes. Watch closely to ensure that the water stays in the bowl and the citrus peels do not burn.
  • If possible, leave the bowl in the microwave (with the door closed) for 12 hours.
  • Too time-consuming, or just not doable for you? That's okay too. Let the bowl sit in the closed microwave for half an hour then, if the burnt smell persists, continue to step 5.
5. Still bad odors in your microwave? Leave an open box of baking soda on your microwave tray overnight.
  • It will neurtalize the odor without adding to the smelly situation in any way.
  • You can also place coffee grounds from your morning coffee in a bowl in the microwave all day while you are at work.
  • If you don't mind coffee smell, you can microwave 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds in a half cup of water for 2-3 minutes to expedite the process.

Best wishes.

I burnet a styfoam, and plastic cover in the microwave. The smell is awful, like melted plastic and burnt wood. My entire house smells horrible. Is there some way to get the smell out.

Try pouring some vinegar in a cup and microwaving until the vinegar steams. This works well when burnt popcorn smells up the microwave.

Pioneer 521 receiver shut off during a movie and then smelled like something burnt, now the receiver will turn on but turns off right away

Burnt smell means a mother board/circuit failure somewhere in the box. There is no owner fix for this. If you open it up you will probably see the charred solder. Back to the dealer

I was women up to a strong smell of burnt popcorn in my room. It's no where else in the house except for the room. My room is also where the breaker box is. Could this be an electrical problem?

Short answer - yes. While a "burnt popcorn smell" is not typical of the smell of an electrical problem, it is possible. You may also hear buzzing or crackling sounds coming from the panel, too. This is an indication of a loose, overheating connection that should be checked out sooner rather than later.

The fact that you were awakened by the smell, suggests that it was night time and likely that most of the other people in the house were also sleeping. The major electric appliances in the hose were probably off because of this - except for maybe the electric water heater, washer or dryer (they work just fine unattended), and sleeping people do not make or eat pop corn.

Good luck!

We can't get our microwave to fully pop the bag of popcorn. If we use the popcorn button it stops before the bag even starts popping. If we preset the time, the same occurs and if we run it until its...

Always place the bag of popcorn on an upside-down paper plate.

This allows more microwaves to penetrate the bag from the bottom.

Also always place food of any kind in the microwave off-center on the tray, NOT in the middle of the tray.

Not only does it cook more evenly (think of how you stir liquid) but it also prevent the same spot from being heated repeatedly on the glass turntable, which can lead to overheating and breakage.

Washing machine was making noise when agitating & spinning

This sure sounds like a bad transmission. Turn the transmission by hand to feel and listen to it. It should be smooth and quiet.

Need to clean air filter of burned popcorn smell

You would be better off to replace the filter. Purchase two and use the first one to capture the remaining smoke residue. Then install the other clean one to keep microwave free of smell. Check the web site www.partselect.com for the replacement filter. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange
