Question about Hoover F6212-900 / F6215-900 SteamVac Agility Upright Vacuum

Okay...I have the same problem and thanks for the reference...

Now, how do I go about actually replacing the short hose? I removed about 15 screws around the handle and lower unit but could not get my hands around the upper hose connection! Is it glued, screwed? How do you get access to it?

    Same problem. Suction decreased dramatically. I found that the lower hose was leaking. Bought a new part but can't get to where it is attached to replace it. Took out about 15 screws but unit still isn't coming apart as it attached below. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

    I finally figured it out...there were a few more screws holding the two halves of the shell together on the upper component. I only discovered them after carefully examining the unit in daylight (dim incandescent lighting in my kitchen simply isn't enought.



    Anyway, the hose is not glued but snapped in place. It does come out rather easily once I was able to fully disassemble the unit.

ECaruso was exactly right. I I had taken 15 screws out. Once I located the 16th screw I was able to open the top compartment enough to snap the old hose out and the new one in. (Not quite that easily, but not too much of a problem.) Thanks.

Hello,

This is a pretty common problem on the Guardian, and it's usually caused by 1 of two things. Both are pretty simple fixes. The first thing you should try is simply eliminating the wand assemblies from the vacuum cleaner. So remove the hose from the upper wand, and disconnect the lower wand from the power nozzle. Now try connecting the hose directly into the power nozzle and turn on the vacuum cleaner, and power nozzle. Does it work? If yes, then one of your wands has gone bad, and you'll need to replace it. If the power nozzle still won't come on, then you may have a much simplier problem. This is either a terrible design by Aerus, or they knew this was going to happen, and made it this way so you'd have to take your machine into to have them service it. It's a very simple problem usually.

Look on the neck of the power nozzle. You will see a small circle indent on the front part of the neck located underneath of where the wand connects into the neck. This is actually a cover that hides a screw below. Simply use a small flat head screw driver, and pop off the small circular cap that hides the screw. There is a Star bit screw underneath. I believe it's a T15, but it may be a T10 sized screw. Use I believe a T15 Torx screw driver and remove the screw from the neck.

Once the screw has been removed, Use a flathead screw driver, and pry the front cover of the neck off. It shouldn't take a lot of force, and should come off pretty easily. Once this has been removed, you should see to metal pins, and two lead wires. What happens is the lead wire becomes disconnected from the metal pin, which then prevents the power nozzle from turning on. Simply reattach the lead wire into the metal pin, and snap the front cover of the neck back on. Put your screw back in, and your screw cover (or you can just leave this part off, you'll probably be having to remove it frequently to reinstall the lead wire, lol).

If neither of these two problems fixed your machine, then it sounds like you may have a bad hose assembly. Hopefully this isn't the case, and it's usually not. 9 times out of 10, it's just the lead wire that's come loose. Problems with Beam central vac


My Beam central vac has started turning off after about 10 minutes of use. I thought it was the hose, but the hose in the garage does the same thing, and I've also tried the other outlets, and the same. The canister was just emptied about two weeks ago. I have also reset the breaker, and unplugged and replugged in the system. Could this be a bad motor?

KENMORE pROGRESSIVE WITH DIRECT DRIVE SUCKING NOISE


I had the exact same problem. The port is a relief valve to prevent the motor from burning out if the hose/bag are clogged. Check the main hose from end to end after removing the 3 screws that hold it to the body of the vacuum near the handle. If that's clear then it's almost certainly clogged in the short tube that goes from the beater bar housing to the hose extension (where the flex tube attaches). There are two ways of going about this.

Option 2
(the way I did it) -- Lock the base on the upright position and turn the unit over. Unscrew the 12 or so screws in the black base. You'll need to depress the release pedal when removing the screw at the end of the pedal. Once you have all of the screws removed carefully wiggle the base loose. You do not need to remove it completely to access the short flex tube. Clean it out and replace everything in the opposite order from how you removed it.

Option 1 (what I would do next time) -- Cut a wire coat hanger and make a small 1/2" hook at the end. Bend the straight section into about a 4" radius arc leaving plenty to handle at the end opposite the hook. Carefully snake the hanger down the tube and pull out the giant clump of hair and dirt that's clogging the vacuum.

from the underside: 1. remove 4 screws holding agitator cover in place 2. remove 2 screws (black screws) holding hose retainer in place, pull hose out through top 3. remove three screws, 2 long, 1 short holding top cover: short screw is at center of inside of brush housing, long screws are inboard of wheel axles, and slightly forward (all of these screws are aluminum colored) 4. from inside surface of each side, at approx the center, locate and push down on ledge inside right and left inside with a screwdriver to slightly displace the plastic ledge that holds the cover on; this ledge-lock-detent can be released with your fingers. You'll have to support the drive mechanism to allow the top housing to drop free. 5. remove housing, turn vacuum over, then go find the torx driver you need to disconnect the cable.
