The problem of your projection TV ,is most in vertical section ,is need to re solder all joint of the solder its already crack or cold ,,when cold solder occured in your unit that is cause abnormality delivery of current and voltage that its the problem of your TV if this problem not remedied,it can cause burnt of spare parts due cannnot supress limit of the current passed;you better reheat the all vertical section ; horizontal section ;and to jungle IC..find a tv technician to do this job in avoiding high voltage shock,reheating job cannot cost too much..

Hi,

Based on your general description, it could be:
1. loose connection or cold solder on any of the connectors and/or boards specially those related to power;
2. heat related - at some point, the heat generated inside the unit could cause a component failure or worsen a cold solder/loose connection;
3. a component is about to fail - on most Samsung projection TVs, this would be the DM board. Exhibited symptoms would be screen flickers (white flashes) and in some instances after about a minute the screen gragually turns very very bright (almost white) from the bottom of the screen to the top.

Any of the above would require familiarity with electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a soldering iron as well as access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable venturing into a DIY, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

The first thing to check are the capacitors, see if the tops look bulging. They are the cylinder looking things on the board. Let me know if the tops are smooth and rounded and we can go from there to narrow down this problem. Basically a board is probably over heating and need of replacing. Please don't rate this solution until you are satisfied and reply as soon as you check the capacitors and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

IF this is a CRT TV you better try checking the picture tube of this one because the symptoms pointing to a bad tube already then better take it to a repair center near so it will be properly diagnose by a professional of this unit and for your safety also..

Good luck......

although the digital board could be a suspect, i would lean more to the dmd board. the board will hve to be repaired by a proper tv technician or it will lead to more critical state.

I have a Philips 50 DLP HDTV MICRO DSPL and I figured the lamp was about to go out because after you would watch tv for about an hour and a half the picture would begin to flicker so I replaced the lamp...

A couple of things to check here. When you replace a lamp some TVs require you to reset the lamp hours meter in the settings in the menu (More common in projectors). If you do not do that then it will only run so many hours before shutting off again. If it is that, you should be able to turn it off and have enough time on the screen to reset that. If that is not the case then you should look into replacing your power supply board.

The picture on my 2 yr old Toshiba 42hm66 DLP tv starts flickering and with alot of rainbow looking distortion after an hour of veiwing. I replaced the lamp, but it sill has the probelm. Any idea what...

I hope this helps you but you might wanna look into some other posts too cause it goes farther then the lamps and color wheels. Basically it's a bad product and the consumer should be fixing it. But your problem seems to be the color wheel. Or just a good cleaning. We replaced the lamb in ours and still had a color problem. We're gonna do an exstensive cleaning and dusting of our unit and if it don't work. We're going straight to the manufactor. This is enough with this product! It's costly to repair and still don't have the quality picture it should. It's more then a simple fix and too costly for ppl to just fix and move on. For how old these products are this all should not be happening.

DLP TV starts to loose picture after 1 - 1/2 hours of use

This tv has a 3 board video path. Analog main pcb --->Digital main pcb --->DMD pcb. see which inputs have the problem to narrow it down. if only some inputs, suspect analog board. if everything flickers(all inputs and menu), suspect the dmd or engine. you can see the lamp shine out the back. if the lamp is flickering, suspect lamp or ballast.

I have a 51 inches big screen TYPE # AC120-60HZ-200W and after watching TV for about a hours or less the TV begins to flicker and the picture gets hard to see, so we shut it off. And after waiting awhile...

First look in the back and be sure that the fan is turning and that the airway is clear. There are airflow sensors inside that may be shutting down the set because they are dirty and can not detect the flow correctly or the lamp may just be getting too hot. Normally there is an indication on the front of the set with a flashing code. Look for that and try to match the code with one listed in the owner's manual.

Keep us posted.
