Memory Card Deleting Photos After A Certain Amount Of Time??

Hi,

Earlier today I was looking for a few pictures on the memory cards that I have(I have 2), and I found that the pictures were not there... I do have them downloaded to my computer from my camera thankfully, but they are no longer on the card, and as far as I can remember, I did not delete them myself since they were fairly important to me. So I was wondering, do the Olympus Stylus 730 XD memory cards delete pictures I would take after a certain time period if they stay on there for too long? If they do, is there a way to get the pictures back or change that option so it doesn't happen again?

Thanks!

I've have xD cards that I thought I deleted the photos, but they showed up on the Xd card when i put it in the card reader to download another set of pics. I think it happened because I used the card in 2 different cameras (thus, the cam each saved pics in their own different formats).

Canon g12 is deleting my pics

If it's not deleting all your photos you may have a setting in your menu features that allow you to overwrite earlier photos if your card gets full.

Internal memory is full

Usually, cameras come with a certain amount of internal memory before it fills up.In this case, your camera has about 10 pictures worth of memory before it is full (see picture).
You can get more space by purchasing an SD memory card from any office supply or electronics store.
You can also upload your pictures to your computer with your USB cable, then deleting the photos one the camera. The instructions on how to do this are in your manual.(If you don't have the manual at hand, there is a link here, see page 18)
How many pictures one SD card will show is shown in this chart:

I was having troubles with my Nikon D2H as in it wouldn't take a picture. I then realized my memory card was full so I deleted a few photos and it worked fine. This afternoon I deleted all the photos from...

You and a few million others all delete their pictures from the memory card when you should be formatting. Formatting cleans the memory card surface of all data and makes it ready to accept new image/data. You said that the card used to hold over 100 + well it will again if you format. By deleting the picture not all of the information data is erased it leaves what I call a residue not much but still enough that over time it begins to take usable space for picture data. Then as you are finding out the life is shortened, well not life but available storage space. Here is a diagram of the format sequence cause you can see it and read it better then I can type it.

Have fun with that, if it were me I'd run 'er through a couple of times Cheers chat later

hi, sometimes old photos tend to stay inside due to some defect or settings. instead of deleting photos. format the card once before you start clicking the photos. formatting can be done in PC or in your camera. if this does not solve the problem. please revert back to us. thank you. sweet rascal

Problem taking pictures

Press the button with the "m" on it to enter your menu
---press the over button to go to the wrench (setup)
---press ok and then up
---click on storage media and then to sd
(my camera will always switch it back over to auto, but that sould still work)

Your camera should now put it's memory on the sd card.

Take out the memory card from the camera and try it in another camera used this type of memory card and it will let you know if the problem is with your camera or your memory card. In case you will found out that the problem is with the memory card - you need for a data recovery software to recover your pictures. There are a lot of recovery software's at the market and some of them are even for free. Look for it in the internet, under "memory card recovering pictures" Good luck
