The brush ends where they are screwed to the frame underneath have broken off. Was wondering if I could get another brush for our Hoover/Steam Vac Dual Action, model/F5826-900, series/H71, household type.

When you put the lid on the recovery tank, you have to be sure that the front of the lid is properly engaged into the two tabs on the top of the tank. With the lid installed, if you can lift the front of the lid off the tank with two fingers, then the lid is not on correctly. Also, make sure the square duct that goes into the front of the tank is in place. You have to remove this duct to install the hose for doing furniture but must replace it to go back to the floor function. By the way, the "blowing air" you refer to is normal. This is exhaust air from the motor and it is used to propel the solution onto the carpet.

I recommend to use the same detergent that came with the machine. Some detergents can cause problems such as damaging seals and causing build up. Hope this helps, post back.

SOURCE: brushes do not spin

I have the same problem. I noticed that on mine where the switch is I have a spring that came off. I'm trying to figure out how to get the cover off so I can see where it should be connected. One end is still attached to the switch but the other end of it isn't attached at all. I'm not sure if this is the problem, but we will see. Mine was working fine the last time I used it and I always clean the brushes after every use.

SOURCE: brushes don't work on my hoover steam vac v2

The bearing on the inside of the turbine is rusted. You will have to take the hood of the unit and unscrew the black piece that has to rub hoses going to it. Then take apart the black turbine. Inside you will find 2 white gears and a small 1/2inch bearing. Use wd40 to uncease the bearing. After this put the take pliers and make sure the metal post will turn. Spray wd40 on everything you see including Hoover for making such ****. After this put put everything back together. Now the best thing to do is get some automotive bearing grease and put a large amount on bearing and and other metal parts. Put everthing back together. Clean any hair off the brushes and you are ready. Now the bad news if your gears are worn you will have to replace the turbine. Go to an internet website and the part number will be 91001019. I know all this because I spent 6 years working for Hoover and they found it cheaper to send our jobs overseas.

How to remove brushes on a hoover f5887-900 steam vac

Take off both tanks, then turn the steam vac over. Using both hands, pull evenly on each end of the brush block. They will pull straight out. But usually it isn't necessary to remove the brushes. Usually the problem is a blocked screen. If you look at the vac from the front of it with it turned right side up, there is a little window. Pull that off and using your fingernail, clean off the lint. If your model doesn't have a window that you can access, look underneath, near the brushes for a red plastic frame, pull down and it will expose the screen. Hope this helps.

The spin brushes on my hoover steam And vac don't

Either the pin on the brushes that attaches to the motor shaft is broken, or the motor is dead. Did you check the switch on the front of the unit to make sure it wasn't turned off?

your belt is probably brokan. underneath the machine you will see some screws carefully take them out writing down which screw went where. than you can pop the plate off and look in there and see if your belt is brokan. If it is the belt number is important to find in your book that came with the machine. hope this helps you.

Spin brushes on Steam Vac

The cover is only secured by 3 screws. One on the top, and two other on the underside. The two on the underside are located on the black plastic and are deeply recessed. After removing these 3 screws, on the top there are 2 snap in post. Simply squeeze these posts inward, towards the center and the cover should lift off.

Drive went out on my Hoover Steam Vac Shampooer and brushes won't turn plus there's a burning smell coming from it. Only used it 6 times - bought it in March - 2008.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me like you have multiple problems with your power drive; a burning smell and the brushes don’t turn, and the dop is on March, 2008 – the Hoover Steam Vac Shampooer has a one year factory warranty and it could be a broken part for the brushes won’t turn or a belt would cause the burning smell. If it is not the belt or broken part it probably is the motor of which you should take it to a authorized Hoover vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the Hoover factory cust serv listed below or the Hoover website for information. If it is the motor the factory authorized dealer will replace the part for the motor and the broken part for the brushes, if it is the belt that would be an out of pocket expense. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Turbine

There are some screws on the bottom that have to come out so you can remove the top housing. Take the brush block out, there are 2 screws above where it sits. The turbine sits near the front, and in the mid section, 2 screws on the front of it and 2 long screws from underneath, if you already haven't removed them. Unhook the hoses to it thenpick it out and replace with the new one. ( Some models near the back of the housing, is a catch on each side that you have to unhook to release the top).

Belt on steam vac v2

The V2 doesn't use a belt, it uses a turbine to drive the brush block, If brushes are not turning, either the shaft on the brush block broke off, or the turbine is bad and will have to be replaced.
