Please don't let your baby sleep in this bassinet. It's in the news yesterday and today that it is being recalled due to babies getting strangled between the bars where the drop down section is. I just purchased one of these and I will not be letting a baby sleep in it. You can take this back to Penneys, Walmart, Kmart, Big Lots and others for a refund. Check on the internet and you will find out more.

They company simplicity for children is making the exact same products as simplicity with the exact same models contact them, if you get no where contact you local better business bureau, as they still do have the parts and are required to provide you with parts as they took over the company. I have heard of many others who have been told "they no longer have the parts" but with in days of contacting their local BBB they receive the parts that they "no longer had" THEY DO EXIST THEY JUST DO NOT WANT TO STAND BEHIND THE OLD NAMES PRODUCTS all they did was go out of business and reopen under a new name Simplicity for Children they are still alive and well I think they are just trying to get out of the bad press associated with their old name, since they were the makers of the 10,000+ cribs recalled just over a year ago, people started no trusting the name, so hence the name change and the "we are not them" routine. I think it is nonsense, they still make the exact same products under and new name, so they do have parts they just do not want to deal with it
This bassinet really has been recalled due to strangulation hazards since two babies have died in it this way, do yourself the safe and easy solution, just take it back to the store for a full refund. Save a babies life and your sanity in not having to deal with this crazy stupid company who will not deal with their mistakes made under their old name (hint their address never changed, just their name!)

I, too, am looking for a replacement mobile for a Winnie the Pooh bassinet and contacted the company via email. My response was the Simplicity company went bankrupt, all parts were destroyed and the person who contacted me said they are not allowed to send any product for a Siimplicity product. But now I'm going to be checking to see if this is a recalled product or not. I read that a lady's grandchild was strangled by this product.

I'd like to know how you got ahold of anyone to help you at Simplicity seenig as they are out of buisness. I assembled my new crib last night and found a piece was broken and the 800 858 8323 number says that Simplicity is out of buisness, unless you have a recalled item. no one would help me.

You could call Simplicity. who makes the bassinet. I just called to get a metal leg that we are somehow missing. I called a month or 2 ago and they quoted me $9 total- $4/item, $5 shipping. I hesitated only because we are not going to use it, I was going to sell it. Now my sister in law wants to buy it from me, so I called to order it. Now the price is $12, $5/part, $7/shipping! For a small metal pole about 6-8" long! She told me they "recently made some changes here." Sounds like making a killing off shipping. I could ship the same piece for half that, with no corporate discount!

SOURCE: How do you fold wheels up to make it a rocker? I

Please note, Simplicity has gone out of business and the Simplicity Bassinets should NOT be used. They were sold at Walmart, Target and BabiesRUs. The word on the street is that Walmart is the easiest to deal with when it comes to returning them. Those who wish to return Simplicity cribs don't need a receipt, they can just take them to Walmart for store credit. BabiesRUs was apparently giving about $65 while Walmart was closer to $190. Again, this is just what I have heard from others.

You can find the specific information on the Simplicity recall here:

Six Retailers Agree To Stop Sale and Recall Simplicity Bassinets Due To Strangulation Hazard

I would pack it up, take it in for store credit, and get a new crib!

You can get some great deals these days on bassinets, there's a great one on Amazon for $130 so it's kind of a no-brainer. Here's one of the top rated:

As I have heard, Walmart will take it back, no questions asked and no receipt necessary and you can get a brand new one with brand new parts, brand new instructions and no recalls or risks!

Good Luck.

tell any one you know to take it back to the store they got it at, they are giving full refunds, if given any hassle tell them to contact their local BBB or CSP, as Simplicity, may be "out of Business" but Simplicity for Children (their new Name) is the exact same company as you mentioned, still making the same products, to get help in getting their money back

they are the same company who made the cribs recalled under the drop side recall a year ago (Graco name was on some of the cribs) but they were all made by Simplicity or Simplicity for children

All that really happened is the company Simplicity was bought out by another company and took the new name Simplicity for Children, who is very much alive and well

The BBB has assisted many other consumers with getting parts for other items made by the old company from them New named company even though they said "the parts do not exist" they magically appear after the BBB calls them.

You can often find model numbers for recalled cribs on manufacturer labels on the crib's underside, headboard, or footboard or on mattress support boards. If you're unsure, call the manufacturer.

Is this crib on the recall

Yes it is under the recall.

The death of two more infants trapped in Simplicity bassinets prompted the Consumer Product Safety Commission to re-announce its August 2008 recall of the child beds on Thursday.

The recall was first announced last year after the death of two other children. A total of four deaths have been reported to the commission involving Simplicity bassinets.

The recall includes more than 900,000 bassinets sold as far back as 2001 and as recently as last year.

The hazard in the Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible bassinets stems from metal bars spaced farther apart than federal standards allow, the commission said.

If Velcro-attached fabric that covers metal bars on the bassinet is attached improperly, a pocket can be created where children can become trapped, the commission said.

Children also can become stuck between the bassinet's metal bars without the fabric attached, the agency said.

In the latest two incidents, a 6-month-old girl in Fort Worth died in January after she was trapped between two exposed bars on the bassinet.

In September 2008, a 2-month-old girl in Demorest, Ga., suffocated when she was caught in a pocket of fabric, which was not properly secured to the bassinet.

The commission also received two other reports involving 10-week-old and 3-month-old infants whose heads became trapped between the bassinet's lower bar and mattress. The infants were freed and uninjured, the commission said.

The recalled bassinets were manufactured before May 18, 2008, and include some sold under the Graco brand and others with Winnie the Pooh characters printed on the bed's fabric.

Simplicity is owned by children's furniture manufacturer SFCA Inc. of Reading, Pa.

The model numbers for recalled Simplicity bassinets are: 3000, 3010, 3011, 3012, 3013, 3014, 3015, 3016, 3017, 3020, 3025, 3026, 3027, 3030, 3040, 3045, 3046, 3047, 3050, 3060, 3070, 3111, 3112, 343-8363, 343-8399, 5730, 5750, 8383, 9250 and TD250, the commission said.

Model numbers on the recalled Graco-branded bassinets include: 3000CL, 3010HAV, 3011WHE, 3011WHK, 3014NGS, 3016LAU, 3017NCB, 3025C, 3030SAR, 3050SAR, 3111DPC, 3111ZOL, 3112DOH, 3122TGT, 5730FKB, 5750SAR, 8393, Graco said in its own recall statement.

Owners of the recalled bassinets can return the beds to the stores where they bought them, the safety commission said. Sources: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-crib-recall21-2009aug21,0,4022989.story

Simplicity bassinet replacement mobiles

First, I would be very cautious. Several of these cribs were recalled. You can check the Consumer Products Safety Commission to see if your crib was involved.

http://search.cpsc.gov/query.html?col=pubweb&charset=iso-8859-1&qt=simplicity

Secondly, this company went out of business and I was unable to contact anyone about ordering parts or manuals. Unfortunately the new company that bought them, isn't taking responsiblity for any Products from the original Manufacturer.

Note, the website phone number and email are non working.

However, I did get a number to a person at the Blackstreet Captial Partners, who help in the purchase of the company. This is the communcations dept. Ask for Don Meyer 202-898-0995.
