Epson Stylus CX9400 Fax Series - making a copy, paper is on glass, getting an error message saying there is a paper jam in the feed when in fact i'm not using the feeder. have to turn off and tun back on. probably have to call the help people huh?
I finally got mine to work after researching a bit. apparently, if it has an issue with one cartridge, the whole machine goes down. since it kept complaining about "m69", i bought a new magenta cartridge and voila! problem solved. its ink doesn't last as long as my last epson, **** what it has printed is very nice. ive been printing with "black ink only" lately and that's helping too conserve the colour inks.

Re: new out of box!!
If you already have tried reseating all of the inks and and inks are still not recognized, Please contact Epson tech support for a replacement ink or if they find out after some diagnostics that it is the printer that is having an issue they would be replacing your printer.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Just an innocent question: are you sure you are using proper cartidges? Didn't you mess them somehow? If carteidges are ok, placed in proper slot, and your printer can't recognize the ink cartridge it's because you have some serious problem with ink cartridge or your printer. This problem can't be solved finishing a,process. Try removing cartidges and preplace one, remove it and replace the other, maybe the problem is with oe of them
Are you sure its exclamation mark?.. This warning message related to print head. (warn out). When you are replacing ink tube assembly use dummy print heads to do the priming (new ink tubes are empty & they have to fill with ink).. Action: Remove all cartridges and print heads, switch on the printer follow the screen message.(Insert cartridges first next dummy print heads).once its recognizes cartridges then it switch over to print heads, insert dummy print heads. Once printer recognized the dummy print heads, printer will perform priming, during priming dummy print heads will filled with respective inks.(follow the display message)Remove dummy print heads & insert normal print heads. Wait till printer recognizes print heads, load the paper & wait till performs the calibration, once calibration is successfully done issue closed. If calibration not successfully done, check align print out for which print head is not printed properly, replace it.. Pl ensure that minimum 50% ink levels required in cartridges before performing the priming. Best of luck..
is there an error code, i know with cannon it has to be there cartidges or you will get and error code( as in a #) now i also remember that on a canon both cartidges have to be in machine and in the correct slots and in a tight position. try hitting ok on printer and see if it prints even though you get an error message that would tell me it is bypassing the ink cartidge and then if i were you go back through the steps i the manual for replaceing an empty cartridge with a new one .
The MP600 does not use the 40 or 41 cartridges, it uses individual color (and black) ink tanks. But other models (MP190, MP460, MP470, etc) do use these cartridges. The error message you are receiving indicates that the printer does not recognize the cartridge you installed as a valid black ink cartridge. This can mean that either the cartridge is faulty, or that the printer has a problem.
I would suggest trying another new cartridge, and if you still get the same error, to contact Canon for support options if the unit is still in warranty.
Verify that you are using Canon(TM) cartridges. The technology has progressed to where they have modified the ink to be identified by their printers. You cannot currently use refill cartridge inks to refill Canon cartridges. If that is not your issue, then try removing and replacing the cartridge(s)and reset the ink level indicator.
