Major problem
Especially if you have Vista or Windows Media Player 11, the firmware upgrade for this device should resolve that problem. If the firmware fails to update, then perform a Repair through Philips Device Manager first, and retry the Firmware Upgrade.
If you find that the GoGear will not load the firmware upgrade, then:
1) Backup all files on the GoGear (Repair will delete all files on your GoGear)
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new
You will now be able to load the upgrade
Also, if the Philips Device Manager says that your device is already updated with the latest software, then go to: www. usasupport. philips. com,and enter in your model number, SA5125/37, on the next page select SA5125/37 (not "37B"), on the next page click on software and drives, and click on Firmware Upgrade Software - this will ensure that your player really has been given the most current firmware upgrade
