Check out this youtube video. Keep in mind that you'll need a computer with Two ethernet ports, a crossover cable, and a dial up carrier like Aol or earthlink. Good luck.

My internet is connected through the telephone service and everytime the telephone rings or used the call interrupts my gaming with other people and shuts down the game

The ps3 was not designed for use on a dial-up internet connection. I'm afraid you will need a dedicated internet connection like cable internet or a 2nd phone line.

How would i use dial up connection to connect my playstation 3 to internet?

Why would you want to? Dial up is so terribly slow for just Internet browsing; I imagine for playing games online it'd be even worse (if it even lets you connect with such a slow connection).

That being said, you obviously can't direct connect dial up to the PS3. There isn't a port for that. Instead you'll have to do a work around involving a PC/laptop with a dial-up modem/port and an Ethernet port on it. You'll also need and Ethernet cable.

Basically the plan is to connect to dial up using your laptop/PC, then share the connection on it from the dial-up port to the Ethernet port. The PS3 would then connect to the Internet through your computer. Not ideal, but then again having only dial up isn't an ideal situation to begin with.

Here's some specific guides on the matter:

Here's some generic guides on ICS (Internet connection sharing) on Windows:

Here's a link for sharing Internet connections on a Mac (if Mac's even have a dial-up port, I honestly don't know how old you'd have to go to get one with it):

Best of luck!

I have bought sony ps3 yestarday.I want to connect it to interet through usb internet modem. Is it possible?

No. Unfortunately the PS3 has to be connected to the internet either through a wireless router or an ethernet cable (the rectangle shaped ones, not the square DSL/Dial up/phone cord ones).

Can't go online with a ps3 by hooking it up to a laptop. I've hooked up an ether net cable to the back of a laptop that has a built in wi-fi connection but my ps3 will not hook up to the internet please...

ok, first, check your laptop to see if it is connected to the internet. If not, create a connection (go to control panel, then network connections, follow steps) then, go on your ps3 and go to settings, scroll down to network connections, then press x on internet connection settings, pess ok, choose easy, etc. as long as your pc has a connection to the internet, and you have high-speed internet (not dial-up), you will be able to go online.

Getting kicked off the internet

have u got a modem to your laptop or pc so it will stop the phine interferring with the internet connection. if u dont have a modem and your laptops a dial up connection the phone WILL make u *** offline. i would buy a router or ask a computer man to fix a modem to your internet wires so the phone wont take u offline.

Ps3 online

Dial up is NOT recommended. I honestly do not think it would even work. DSL and broadband work great. If you get DSL or broadband you would need your original ethernet cord and hook up the PS3 from your router. If you go wireless then you would need a wireless router.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Trying to upgrade my ps3, with dial-up.

to do this you would need to enable your pc with ICS (Internet connection sharing) and connect an ethernet cable from your pc to ps3. You will need windows xp or vista to do this.

A tutorial can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314066

Should you need either a network card for your pc or ethernet cable these can be cheaply found on ebay.

However your PS3's connection to the internet will be dreadfully slow and will most likley have extremely bad lag when playing online.
