I have the same Model and have the same problem. I encountered this problem just 1 week ago strange coincidence. I wonder why. It played well for alomost 1 and 1/2 year. I'm glad that I'm not alone having this issue.

Friend of mine was telling me that there could cleaners we can get and clean it. I don't know whether it solves the problem.

    Thanks

The coby player skips our movies. I figure the system needs to be cleaned but dont know what type of cleaner is best to use on this system. Thanks Jill C. Marion Ohio

You should find out if it happens with all of your DVDs. If it does then you can purcahse a DVD /c CD player cleaner. It is a disc that you insert that is built special to clean the lens as it rotates.

My coby-514 dvd won't open up when the open/close

disc is stuck, remove cover screws and carefully remove the disc, do not force the unit, once the disc is out use the remote to close the unit, then use remote to open and use a different disc press play and hopefully it will work, try to avoid not using the remote for all functions, including open-close. do not push tray in manually.

Our dvd player is saying wrong disc all of a sudden.

IT could be 2 things : check the region of dvd , or clean the OPTICAL LENS directly with a dry Q tip gently , if it still reads " wrong disc" then replace the optical lens , AJ
