Second hand fell off inside. How do you get the stem out after you take off the back plate? I can fix it if I can get the stem out.

I just fixed the same problem .There is a small arrow pointing to a small hole .insert a very thin screw driver or a pin and the stem will come out easily.

Pull the stem out to the date set position.  Remove the back of the watch.  Insert a  small tool (needle in my case) in hole near stem and gentle pull out stem.  The correct hole has a very small, etched, arrow pointing at it.  I used a set of tweezers to handle the second hand and place it back in position.  This is a helpful link www.professionaljeweler.com/archives/articles/2000/jul00/0700te.html
