Question about PC Chips (M925G) Motherboard

1 Answer

Updating Drivers I've ran two checks on my computer of updating old drivers. The sites advertised they were free, but they were a play on words. Is there a place I can go to run a diagnostic of my computer to see which drivers need updating and then the links to actually download the drivers for free? Or am I asking for too much? Teresa

Thank you for the idea. I had already came to that conclusion before I asked my question, but I was hoping for an easier solution because even though I built my computer in '04, it has been difficult to find drivers for it lately. Apparently my equipment is ancient now and if I can't find the drivers I need in the manufacturer's "archives", then I have to pay some company, like the "free" Driver Detective, who claims to have access to my "updated" drivers. What a racket... So be it. I just want to make sure that I am running the most recent updates before I move on to upgrading parts & memory. The main problem I am working on is my computer is running so slowly when I get on the internet or try to run more than two programs at a time, but it is fine when I am just running applications, like Word. I have 1024mb of memory installed and am only left with the slower memory to upgrade, which doesn't seem like it should make a difference. I'll figure it out... Again, thanks for your advice.

    Hi Again~

OK, so all I have left to do is update the mobo bios.

How do I check for the exact sound card that I have? I'm not so sure I downloaded the correct ones a couple of years ago when I updated them last because every since then, I have to push the cd eject button three to four times to get it to open. I can hear it working, but it takes a few tries to open so I'm thinking it had to do with downloading the wrong drivers.

What is the "SMART stauts" of my hdd and how do I check it?

    Thanks again in advance!

The best is to search on the motherboard manufacturer's web-site. Like for intel go to www.support.intel.com

    Thanks for your feedback..

Believe Me..1024 Mb is more than sufficient memory to run your PC & have many applications running on.

If its hardware problem, check whether the Electrolytics on your mobo started swelling. Specially those around CPU. Another reason could be failing Hard-disk, which might have developed Bad Sectors. Check for SMART stauts of your HDD, which can be a good clue for the HDD condition.

Unless you have no doubt on MOBO & HDD, try & see if following helps..

Clear all History from Internet Explorer, delete all temporary files from temp folder. Run the Disk Cleanup wizard. Run Disk Defragmentor.

Run Free Registry Cleaner like Eusing Reg Cleaner. This helps alot.

Go to Performance Options in System Properties & select adjust for best performance.

Set the virtual memory to the right size.

You can also update the Bios for your mobo, to gain good performance.

Let me know your motherboard model & system configuration. I can definitely help you out..

    Best Luck..

    Hello,

If your have installed the sound card on PCI slot, check the model no./manufacturer details on card itself. Check the Chip no.on this card, which could help out finding the right drivers fot your sound card. You can also go to Control Panel=> System=> Hardware=> Device Manager & check the card as detected by your Operating System.
If your CD-Drive takes many tries to open the door, it means that it is growing old & some mechanical problems are present in CD-drive. Mostly it is rubber belt on the door drive motor that has lost its elasticity / has wear & tear. Try if you can replace the belt/ buy a new CD-Drive

SMART status of your HDD can be viewed if enabled in Bios. SMART is in-built monitoring system in any HDD, which continously monitors the drive parameters & health. When enabled in BIOS. BIOS can read the SMART status while booting up & same is shown at startup. If SMART status of HDD is bad, you should backup your data & replace with new HDD.

I hope I have answered your questions to your satisfaction...

I want latest BIOS drivers for INTEL DH55TC desktop board. I've gone to http://downloadcenter.intel.com but the latest BIOS drivers available in INTEL site is TCIBX10H.86A.0048.EB.EXE & Date:1

Those are the latest drivers you can get. Bios updates aren't created on any regular schedule or anything, and eventually they stop updating them altogether when the board is past its manufactured life cycle. They may make another update in the future, but then again they may not.

If you are having an issue with the motherboard that's not been addressed/fixed by the last update, then the only thing you can really do is email Intel and tell them about it. If they get enough complaints about what your issue is, then the probability they will fix your issue and make a newer Bios update will go up. Luckily Intel has more resources/programmers than most other companies in the business and thus your chance of getting a Bios update is better than average.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7. Is there a new driver for windows 7? I have the L1916HW.

You shouldn't need a driver. If you're having a problem, perform a windows update, and if that doesn't work, consider re-installing your video card drivers.

If you're not having any issues at all, I would suggest leaving things alone. After updating many windows systems, and of recent, windows 7, I have never needed a specific driver for the monitor. In checking the westinghouse site, and they referred me to their old site, nothing showed up but the specs and info on the monitor.

Pm266a pro

The first thing that you should do is check the manufacturer's Web site for the drivers and everything that you need should be found. ALWAYS check the manufacturer's Web site (using the model #) when in need of drivers, whether software or hardware.

The manufacturer of your PM266A Pro board is Albatron. You should find drivers for that board HERE. I don't know what operating system you're using (Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Linux, etc) but, if you're using Windows XP (with at least Service Pack 1) or Windows 2000 (with at least Service Pack 4) then you WILL NOT NEED TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE USB DRIVERS.

I inserted a link directly to the page on Albatron's site where these drivers are located. If you click on the word HERE in this paragraph or the one above, it will take you to the page.

This is not a brand new board so, if I were you, I would also take a look at the BIOS updates for this board. Albatron has several updates listed for download. Updating the system BIOS is important because it can prevent you from having pesky little issues with your system and also allows you to add/enable certain features/hardware on the board. It's pretty much just upgrading the board. Compare your version to those versions they have listed in the available updates. The best thing to do would be to download and install the latest BIOS update. Follow this link for BIOS updates.

Everything that you need to know about your board should be on Albatron's Web site. I hope this helps you now and in the future event that you need to find drivers.

Thanks for using Fixya!
