Are you using head phones or speakers?

Try plugging in a set of headphones into the green audio jack and see what happens.

Did you have sound before?
If yes then follow this for xp:
Start/control panel/Sounds, Speech, & Audio Devices/Sound & Audio Devices. Is page greyed out? If yes then most likely its your sound card or on board sound, or your missing drivers.
If not greyed out go to "Sounds" tab, click on any "Program events" sound under Windows then click little black arrow next to browse on bottom right . Sound? If the arrow is greyed out then its the same; audio hardware device or audio driver.
If there is still no sound click on "Hardware" tab and first Sound, video and game controller then "properties". This will tell you under "Device status" if this device is working properly. Do this for each Sound, video ect.... selection in the list. I have found there are usually 6 listings. If not then you are most likely missing a sound driver.

Struggling with sound and video stuttering.

Sounds like you have too much invisible crap running in the background. Try these:

hit the windows key and type msconfig in the search bar, click the startup tab and uncheck everything that isn't acer or windows related. Restart computer

download malwarebytes and ccleaner, update and run both. Delete/quarantine all spyware and viruses

click start>control panel>add and remove programs. delete every program that isnt 100% needed. If it wont let you delete, google the program and how to delete it since it's probably spyware.

start>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter(don't bother if you have an SSD hard drive)

if these don't work try start>accessories>system tools>system restore. restore to a point before you had this problem

Sound stops and starts on youtube

Step 1:

Restart your computer. Once your computer is completely turned on, check if youtube is working fine. If no go, please proceed to next step.

Step 2:

Use a different web browser like chrome or mozilla. Check if it works. This is actually a problem with your web browser. If I were you, you update your webbrowser or the flash player. Flash player runs videos and music in the web browser.

Step 3:

After fixing this problem, download Radarsync so that all driver related issues are fixed. Your current issue could also be a cause of a driver related problem.

I Have A HP Pavilion a6300f And When I Cut It On I Get Nothing From The Video Port Nothing Pop Up On The Screen No Picture The Screen Stay Black As If The Monitor Never Cut On. The Monitor Works I Have...

Sounds to me like you're having one of two possible problems, first possibility is the video card burned out, second being the power supply died out. When you turn on your computer do you hear your harddrive make any sound(usually hear a bit of a louder sound similar to when you first put a cd in the disk drive) if not then it might be your power supply died out, if everything sounds normal then it might just be the video card. There are ways to swap out those pieces, but wouldn't recommend it to you if you're not too tech savvy, so what I suggest is you send it back to HP if you're still under warranty and see if they fix the issue for you.

If you are willing to try and fix it yourself you can order a power supply and/or video card from websites like or, and to learn how to replace the parts go here(for video card) and for the power supply go here

I've been experiencing audio and video problems for the last few weeks and have tried just about everything to resolve this matter. I'm able to play all music in wmp or watch downloaded movies but I'm...

you need to update your codecs.  a codec is a Coder/decoder hence the name.  the file is coded at one place and your computer has to decode it.  First off you have to find out what file isnt playing correctly be it a divx, and avi, an mpeg, an mp3 , an mp4 , a wav...... and on and on.  once you figure out wich one is messing up do a google search for the codec.  example divx = bad then search "divx codec download" and follow the links till you find one you can download.  scan it for virus then install.

should fix the problem.

Muffled sound

I think it might be a driver or a codec missing. Eeeh... do you hear the same thing while listening to music? If you don't it is definitely a software issue! From here I would try reinstalling the software, or get the most updated version of the software (I'm assuming you're using Windows Media Player). Let me know if you're using a specific software.
