My new iTouch sees my home secure wi-fi network, but won't connect even with password. Each time I attempt to log on to the network, I get booted; It says "Cannot connect to "network name", and I must exit using the DISMISS button.

The Touch works at Starbuck's on the Bell Hotspot network though.

Here is what I did with my Linksys. I went into my security settings and retrieved my Encryption code. Entered it EXACTLY the same as my password (and not the password I had setup on my router). At first it said I was connected, but no bars, then I went into the info (IP, Subnet mask, ETC) and changed it to static and *~POOF~* Wi-Fi connected.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: my new itouch will not

Make sure that where you are with your iPod, you can get signal for the wireless. Sounds simple but you would be amazed...! Also check the router is set to something like "be visible" or "show to all devices" otherwise you will be unable to find it! Hope this helps!

NOT CONNECTING TO INTERNET

I had exactly the same problem with a brand new 3rd gen iTouch. It showed it was connected to the network but wouldn't access anything (invalid argument etc). I tried everything but no joy. Eventually I fixed it by changing the router's encryption from WEP to WPA2-PSK. Fixed it like magic. Where there had been no router or DNA data before, they were suddenly filled in. The key was different but was still on the bottom of the router. I had to re-enter the key on my wireless laptop2_bing.gif but that was a small price.

You can get into the router set-up page through your web browser. I found a guide on You Tube.

Good luck!

IPod Touch does not connect to my home network?

In my case, I keep getting endlessly prompted to enter my passcode for my wireless router. I found that if I reboot the iTouch - hold down the top power button and slide the "slide to power off". Wait for it to finish powering off and then power it back on by holding the same button. When it comes back up it automatically connects to my home network again. Seems to happen every time I connect to an outside wifi network and then return home... I wish I knew WHY it does this - I suspect it has something to do with how my home wireless router is configured.

Itouch wont recognize wifi from my linksys router

Enable "SSID Broadcast" to get network to appear on iTouch. Also note that your "password" to modify router settings is not the same as your security (or WEP, WPA) "key".

My itouch won't connect with my wireless network in my home. I have a Netgear router. My ITouch has been working (connecting) for over 6 monts without any problems. Nothing has been changed. All other...

I would turn your itouch on and tap the top bar where the battery and signal show.
a screen will pop down and show your wireless connection. tap it ans check your settings.
make sure you renew lease on your wireless and use the wep code which is on the label of your wireless router.
you should have signal now

good luck

My itouch will not connect to the internet, or even a wifi network, i even went and purchased a wireless router, and it still wont work.

Go to settings on your touch and click wifi
make sure the nifi switch is on and the ask to join network switch is on.
see if it recognizes your wireless network and join the network.
it will ask you for the wep key for your network.
you will find that on the router label.
enter the wep key and you should have access.

if you find this helpful, please leave a vote on fixya, thanks

Connect itouch to wifi

Hi mac42eli,

You need any router or wireless access point to conenct your ipod touch to the internet or even your home network.

These days most wired routers will also have the option of wireless. You can check this by entering the routers configuration page. Usually by typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Or more simply, google you wired router model to check.

Bluetooth is not currently available for connection in the ipod touch or iphone. The iphone supports it, but for bluetooth headsets. Therefore, regardless of the fact that your mac pro (very nice computer by the way) can support it, your ipod touch can't take advantage of other bluetooth devices.

I hope this helps.

Nathan.

ITouch won't connect to internet

I FIXED MINE THIS MORNING!!!

try this! If your iTouch says you are connected to your network but you can't surf and you've been able to connect in the past...you have to reset your network connections on your iTouch.

Go to Settings
Go to General
Go down to Reset
Go to Reset Network Settings
It will ask for your iTouch Passcode...enter it
Then, hit the red "Reset Network Settings"
After that, go back to "Wi-Fi" in Settings...
...and connect to your network again. It might ask you for your WEP password, if it does, enter it.
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS fields should now have entries in them.
Surf Away!!

Hope that works for you. It worked for me!!!

Wifi connection & itouch

I finally discovered the problem. I have a Linksys wireless
router, so when I tried to log on with my iTouch, I got the
message "Unable to join network "my network name" when
I typed in my password. One day, after many trys, I tried
typing in the network security key for my router, and Voila,
it worked. For some unknown reason (to me), the iTouch
recognizes the the network security key as the password.
