If you cannot find the adjustments to retun sound Michael try resetting it to factory default through the settings available from the menus on your remote control..Performing a reset should return all settings to their original and should, therefore, CORRECT THE FAULT IF IT IIS NOT AN HARDWARE FAULT.
If , after resetting, the fault persists it must be a hardware issue that requires the services of a technician.
whenever something electronic goes wrong try resetting to factory default. If the device is not broken this will restore it to working condition. the restore function should be found in the settings menus somewhere
iF you tried to unplug sets and or boxes connected only a few reasons remain: if remote works when first on or when very close to set the issue may be the infrared receiver==the remote itself can easily be tested but does not sound like the problem although it could be.
If the set is not usable and over a certain age, I would go replace it.
Akai is really made by Samsung----You might want to check with them or try to price and look for an ORIGINAL replacement remote--Universals are a pain as you have discovered and even if they program will be missing a number of key features the original remote had.
They are by no means "Universal" for programming or use.
U have the tv original remote wright?Yes?Push the tv remote button that said Menu.Go into the tv Menu at already or goto PICTURE than go down to do a resetting than everything will return itself back to the factory setting and now just go to the Colors Setting lower -30 less than the colors on the tv now ur tv should be good and have a correct pictures coloring.

Repaired one of these with the same symptoms about two weeks ago. My guess is that the SMPS has failed. In laymen's terms the power supply, Samsung p/n#Bn96-00249a and you should be able to purchase it at Vance Baldwin http://www.vancebaldwin.com/ and just sign in as a guest, select parts# and input the number above (no dashes). Be seated when you do they're a bit spendy - - about $270.00 dollars plus shipping and a $50.00 core... You get that back when you send them the old one..
After you get the back off the PS is located in the middle of the unit at the top of the screen. If you need the service manual to help just let me know. It's actually an easy plug and play repair...
