Dd601 ver2 Top draw wont drain properly.Leaves about 2 inchs of water(clean). Occaisionally u3 code shows.Have tried eveything i can think of. HP is correct Drain hose and filter to pump are both clear. No blockages. Have swapped motors from bottom to top and makes no difference. Have swapped inlet hoses around and no difference. Have run diagnostic and when in drain mode P2 it drains very slowly - takes 1 minute 42 seconds to drain 2 litres of water. Bottom draw takes just 30 seconds to do the same.

Thanks for the advice. But have tried this already - is clear. Also have probed from motor to drain hose part. Flow there is fine.

Thanks again for advice. Unfortunately still trying to resolve.I had already completely removed drain pipe and flushed with garden hose.

Sprayarm turns freely. (even without spray arm it is slow to pump)

    Definetly set to HP

Motor electronics im not sure of. Other than it does pump just takes a long time to empty. See above.

    Thanks - will try this.

I had the problem with the top draw not draining properly and the dishwasher showing the U3 fault code on my DD601 v.1, I did'nt have a copy of the dishwasher manual so it took the following steps, this is best done out side to save on messing your kitchen up!!!
Firstly make sure you unplug the dish washer form the electricity supply, open the top draw, now you will have to go underneath this draw and remove the bottom cover which has 9 holding tags which are very easy to over come, now you should see the top drain pipe(Black pipe) quickly remove that from the connector and remember to catch the water with a bucket!! now remove the red non return valve from the tube and reconnect the pipe, you will have to now plug the dishwasher back into the electricity supply and connect the waste water pipes to either a hose or your nearest tap, you will now back flush the waste pipe back through the pump you should find waste food being pushed out, don't fill the draw up to much, pick these out and take the waste water pipe away from the tap and into a bucket and allow contents of the dishwasher draw to drain into this and see how much rubbish you get, repeat as necessary I did it about 6 time until I was satisfied then reconnect as normal and away you go.Remember to put the non return valve back in aswell!!!!!!!
Good luck, hopefully this will save you a fortune bills

Have you check the tunnel between the kidney shaped sump and the well that the rotor motor locks into, often chips of crockery, seeds etc get caught in here and reduce the flow rate .You will need to remove the rotor motor, its easy, lift out racks then sprayarm to expose rotor motor turn locking ring to release stainless sieve lift out, then turn motor assembly anti clockwise and lift out. With something flexible eg 4mm insulated wire push it through tunnel from sump to motor well.

change controllers over top to bottom and bottom to top if you have enough understanding to get this far .If problem changes to bottom drawer then it would suggest controller fault

The dishwasher is filling up too quickly compared to what the controller expects. Try to turn down the water inlet tap under kitchen sink and check. Also see if the water pressure setting in the dishwasher is HP for normal mains water pressure. See

What does U3 mean?

U3 can mean quite a few things depending on when it occurs and which drawer it is.

It could mean Lid fault and will show up as soon as you start dishwasher.

It could mean drain problems if it occurs later in the wash cycle and there is water left behind.

It could mean the wash arm is not sitting properly if it occurs during wash cycle.

Our F&P DD601V2 double dishdraw is showing error 'U3' and the water does not totally drain out after a cycle, any ideas? Thanks

This applies to all DD601 and DD603 dishdrawers.
U3 is either one of the following:
- Drain pump is blocked.
- Drain hose is blocked.
- Sprayarm or rotor not turning freely.
- Motor electronics have failed.
- Machine set to 'LP' on a high pressure water supply.

Often it's just the last one, "Machine set to 'LP' on a high pressure water supply.", as this can be unintentionally changed by a user from an uncommon course of events. Sometimes, due to the technical design of the way the buttons work, if water bridges the 2 "Programme" and "Eco" buttons (inside on the top right of the tub), pressing either one, or both, (or just having your finger in the water) for longer than 5 seconds brings up a special mode that a user, in their ignorant attempts to get out of it, can erroneously change the pressure setting, subsequently causing a U3 error. It happened to me once when I was cleaning the machine, wiping around the Programme buttons.

To change to the proper High or Low Pressure settings:
1) LCD Display on. Hold the Programme and Eco touch switches simultaneously for 5 seconds.
2) Machine beeps and "HP" or "LP" is displayed in the LCD.
3) Push the Start/Pause button to toggle between them.
4) Push the Power button when correct selection complete.

Top drawer works but bottom drawer shows code u3 and bottom drawer started leaking water before the u3 code showed up

U3 code generally relates to drain pump blocked. This could mean the water is not able to drain out. Leaking of water is not a good sign. Shows the vacuum seal is not working.

Clean the drawer door from inside and make sure the seal lining is sitting properly. Also the filter plate and the motor cavity needs cleaning. You will need to see the user guide on how to do this.

Model 601V2 dishdraw showing U3 error message

I have had my Fisher Paykel dishdrawer for 8 years and it has never completely worked. I would get a U3 code on the top drawer intermittently. I have had my drains rerouted twice, LP - HP reset, service men replace the back flow flap and mother boards without luck... until I was able to get my hands on the service manual. Turns out the solution is quite easy. If you have a problem with the U3 code it means the drawer is not draining appropriately, The washer only gives a preprogrammed 60 sec to drain the drawer. So if your drawer is overfilled, it will think it has a drain problem. The following is taken from the service manual...

"U3 - Time to fill was too short, indicating water was still in the tub.
Possible Causes:
· Drain pump is blocked.
· Drain hose is blocked.
· Sprayarm or rotor not turning
freely.
· Motor electronics have failed.
· Machine set to 'LP' on a high
pressure water supply.

The tub fills with approximately 2.2 litres of water, level with the base of the spray arm attachment. Once this level is reached, the wash pump (which has sensed the fill at 30 second intervals during the fill), becomes primed and pumps the water through the spray arm which will then rotate.
The water level is monitored by sensing the motor load through the electronics."

The solution is to turn your water supply valve part of the way on to limit the gpm flow to the drawer. This way, the drawer will not have over-filled in the 30 sec it took to sense the motor load. I have tried it and wow no more U3. Hope it makes sense and hope it works for you.
