Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop

Blue screen w/msg: A promblem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

First msg. before blue screen is: We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

When I turn on the computer, I get a black screen with a msg: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start sucessfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. " So, I have tried to start in "Safe Mode," and "Last Known Good Configuration ( your most recent settings that worked )," After a few seconds of false hope, I get the blue screen w/msg. At that point, nothing responds.

Try putting your computer into safe mode by turning the power off. Wait 30 seconds. Turn the power on. At the start of the computer booting press and hold down on the f8 button until the menu pops up. Use the up and down arrows to select safe mode and press enter.

After your computer is finish starting up in safe mode, restart the computer the normal way.

Since you are not able to boot in any of the modes better disconnect all the external devices like Printer.. and reboot the computer..

If the problem still lies then let us know the error code that you see on the blue screen.. you may have to perform repair installation with the help of the windows disk

good luck

Youre probably going have to restore it. By doing that if there is a hardware issure it should be obvious by the installation process.

Sometimes a video card can go bad and cause this to happen. If you have another card laying around the house you might want to swap them and see if thats the case.

If the video card is ok try to reset your motherboard. just open your cpu and look for a battery on the board. (be sure your pc in unplugged) remove the battery by pressing the little lever in the bottom part of the battery after a few seconds place it back again just by pushing it.

Try also disk cleanup, disk defragmenter and system file checker...

hope this helps...

note: system file checker works works with the windows disk, it restores corrupted system files with a new one...
