Hey, my computer screen doesn't work when my computer starts ?

If you have hooked up the computer to another monitor and you still have no display, then your video might be bad. If you have display with another monitor, then you know your monitor is bad or the connection is bad. Be sure to check the connection, sometimes the video cable loosens and if that is the case you won't have any display.
I haven't looked up the "specs" on this system, but if you don't have any display with another known good monitor that works, you will have to determine if you have a video card or onboard video. If you need to replace the video, and have onboard, you need to have an open slot on the motherboard, there should be an open PCI or VGA slot available for a video card. In any case, if there is onboard video, you need to disable it in the setup after you install the new video card. Good luck hope this helps.

Hi there, I have a toshiba satellite M60-BK3 Laptop. Is only four years old and from couple of days my LCD display is going on standby mode very fast. I try pressing and releasing that little switch which...

A couple things to try, 1 is boot the system in the safe mode (F8 menu at boot) and see if the LCD turns off there. You can also attach an external monitor and see if the external looses video too.
If the system looses video in the Safe mode and doesn't loose video with an external monitor, then the LCD backlight is likely failing
LCDs run about $100 to $150 on ebay

My friend has a Toshiba A135-S2346 laptop and the screen has gone out. It sounds like it's still loading and what not, but when I try to hook it up to a desktop monitor, I still get nothing.

Hi,
You have hooked up the external desktop monitor BEFORE booting up the laptop I'm assuming? That needs to be done first of all.
Secondly - find a button on your laptop that looks like two small screens or boxes that look like screens. They are probably drawn on top of your number keys (123456789 etc). You should have a button down in your left corner of your keyboard called FN? Hold in that button and press the number key that has the icon of those "screens" or "boxes". This will toggle turning on an external display vs. the internal display or both depending on how many times you press the number key while holding down the FN key.
Please let us know how this works out.
Thanks,
Kaj

Brand new Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5868 laptop display screen has gone black, even though the computer is on.

Since your laptop is brand new , you may not be familure with it's function keys , FN

Sometimes the users accidentaly presses the FN and the F5 monitor function key at the same time.
which effectively turns the notebooks display off.

D in the image below is the FN function key
and the monitor function key could be F5 , it will have a little monitor symbol on it.

When they are pressed together it will turn the notebooks display off and enable any VGA monitor connected to it's VGA ports. when pressed again , they will turn of the VGA port and turn on the notebooks display.

Have toshiba satellite a130/a135 laptop screen red then goes blank

Try hooking up a external monitor. If you get video on the monitor and not the LCD, then your LCD may be in trouble.
If you don't get video on the external monitor, then your video card is gone.

When I turn on the Toshiba Satellite A215-S7447 laptop, the monitor part of it doesn't turn on with the rest of the system.

Plug in an external monitor. use the <FN><F5> keys to toggle between the internal lcd and the external monitor. If the display external works and the lcd doesn't, most likely a bad inverter board.

My toshiba m105 it wasn't the inverter, it was the lcd itself, the TAB welds were no good but the lcd still worked it just had a 3" vertical blacked out area on the lcd.

Toshiba Satellite P25-S5092/ Computer will come on, but screen will not work. Wondering if it is most likely the LCD screen itself, the backlight or something else.

Hi,

If you have deduced that indeed the Toshiba Satellite P25-S5092 will boot and therefore operational except no display on the screen, you can always verify by connecting an external monitor. You of course would need to press Fn + F? (the F key with the small monitor icon).

As to the LCD screen having no display, often this could either be the CCF lamps (cold cathode florescent) and/or the inverter that powers it. One way to verify this is by shining a flashlight obliquely to the screen and a portion of your desktop would show albeit very very dark. Often, it is the inverter that fails. In some instances it could even just be a cold solder, loose connection or capacitors that have dried up, leaky or blistering.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Green Vertical Stripe on Toshiba Satellite A80

This sounds like something has messed up your crystals in your display, and while I do not know that much about laptop displays this sounds like it can only be fixed by a technician or by replacement.
