Question about Computers & Internet

Speakers I can't get my speakers hooked up with my new dell inspirion 530s. I am using the harman/kardon speakers I had with my dell dimension; when I plug them into the electrical outlet - they let off a very loud hum.

When these are plugged into the outlet, are they connected to the PC at this time??

If they are, try unpluggong them from the PC and see if the hum persists.

Please let me know the outcome.

Hook on speakers to the right jack.
Most of times it is the Green Jack you must plug in the speaker. See for the speaker icon below the jack, that should give you the clue...
Hope this helps...

Media Card Reader is optional for Dell Inspirion 530s.
You can check for its availability by opening the Flexbay panel by pressing the button.
Here is a picture where you may check the position of Media Card Reader. SDCard Reader slot is usually under number 1.

I have two Harman Kardon speakers that came with my computer. I bought a subwoofer and would like to hook it to the speakers and computers. How do I do this?

You will need a sound card which supports more than stereo sound say a 5.1 or 7.1 then you will have the extra jacks to plug in even rear, centre and side speakers if you wish as well as a sub-woofer. Cheers from Scott....pls vote

Old speakers will not work with new Dell Inspiron 530

Speakers are pretty much universal. Plug them in, and connect the audio cable to the green receptacle on the computer.

Won't power up

  • Make sure all connections on the rear of Subwoofer are properly inserted in their connectors.
  • Check to see if LED illuminates on the front of right satellite speaker. If it is not illuminated, check the power connections.
  • Make sure power switch on satellite is turned on.
