Question about Saeco Vienna De Luxe Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Can not prime the machine

I have a new machine that won't prime. I have filled the water tank but it won't prime. I think there may be a piece missing. Should there be a small ball or part at the entry point on the machine that would depress the valve at the bottom of the water tank to allow for free flow of the water???
It can't be clogged...it's never been used.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I think you have to get a little pump to press down water in the hole where the water tank is fitted, when you open the steam knob then you have to press in water to the machine.

HI
Call who ever you bought it from and have them diagnose the problem. I think you have a disconnected hose or something worse.

My machine is saying hot water ventilate what does that mean

Hi
That means the pump needs to be primed by running water through the wand. Push the water button and open the knob on the right. You will hear the pump change tone when it primes and the light or message will disappear. If you have a restriction in the intake line the message will not go away. There is a flow meter inside the machine that measures water flow. If the flow meter does not spin when the pump is running, the computer thinks that the pump is not primed. Coffee grounds will get into the intake and restrict the flow meter. If you get a restriction in the water intake (below the water tank, on the machine) the pump may run and water comes out, but the flow meter does not create the jet of water to spin the turbine wheel to send impulses to the computer. You get the ventilate message. One thing to remember is when you are working on the water system (have the water tank off) do not fill the bean hopper and visa versa. Keep them covered when working on the other. Cross contamination will damage a machine fast.

Why am I getting a "need to prime" message. I have low water flow when I open the hot water/steam valve to prime the machine as per the user guide.

HI
The problem you have is, there is a restriction in the intake of your flow meter. It usually is a piece of coffee that fell into you water receptacle when you had the water tank off. Then you filled the bean hopper and the chip of coffee fell in the receptacle, and then you replaced your water tank and that let the chip flow to your flow meter and now you have a slight flow of water and you always get the ventilate message.
You need to remove the flow meter (in the back bottom of the machine, attached to the tube that goes to the receptacle) and clean the intake side, and then remember "When you are working on either the beans or water, make sure that the other one is covered".

"add water" error message.

problem solved! the float in the water tank has a magnet in it that the main unit senses. the previous owner cleaned the tank before shipping and installed the sensor upside down. if you disassemble the water tank, it is very easy to install the float incorrectly.

Via Veneto will not prime

Yes, unfortunately the Via Veneto is a difficult machine to prime, however, I have a simple way to prime the pump if you run into this problem. Simply remove the water tank, fill a clean turkey baster with water, open the steam valve fully then mate the baster tip with the water tank flow valve on the espresso machine. Wrap a towel or paper towel around the flow valve/baster tip then inject the water (agressively, but not forcefully). It's works for me every time.

I have a Saeco Incanto RS Espresso Machine. The prime light is on, but the machine won't prime. Very little water of steam comes out of the wand.

You need to manually prime it using the priming bulb that came with it. Instructions are in the manual. Remove water tank. Fill priming bulb. Hold priming bulb on water inlet. They don't inter-connect, so just hold it on there as best you can. Turn the machine on, turn steam knob on, and gently, slowly squeeze the bulb to force water into the machine. It works best when the machine is cold, because you want to get liquid water in there, and not have it displaced by steam.

it just means that the pump needs primed. Turn on at the wall and on the machine, wait until screen says ready (make sure water tank full), then turn steam handle on RHS to on (do not push the steam button). the pump will prime until water comes out of the steam nozzle. now turn off the steam handle and you are ready to go!
