freezer bottom freezes but top doesn't cool and doesn't make ice.

Maytag RSD22A ice built up on the freezer side whick blocked airflow. I took off the back panel inside the freezer, de-iced it. The refrigerator worked normal for a week and ice built up again. I replaced the defrost heater, it worked for another week and ice built up again. Is it a problem from the defrost timer? Where is the defrost timer located? Or it's a problem from the defrost relay?

If airflow is not blocked by ice build-up, my refrigerator should work fine. Please help.

Freezer stayed cold but upper compartment wouldn't. Freeze started having problems with staying cold. I just paid $377 to get the two year old evaporate fan replaced. It is located inside the frig behind the panel in the freezer compartment. It took about 15 minutes. Seems this part is part of the evaporator system but not covered by anything other than the first one year warranty. Problem solved but what a ripoff from Kitchenaid.

SOURCE: refrigerator side not cooling, but feezer is still freezing

DEFROST HEATERS IN THE FREEZER. IF THERE IS FROST ON THE BACK WALL INSIDE THE LOWER AREA OF THE FREEZER SECTION. YOU THEN HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM. THE HEATER IS THE MOST COMMON. REMOVE THAT PANEL AND DEFROST WITH HAIR DRYER. THIS FROST IS BLOCKING THE AIR FLOW TO THE REF. SIDE. AFTER THIS IT WILL WORK FOR 10-21 DAYS WITH OUT REPLACING THE DEFROST HEATER. 95 PERCENT CHANCE. JUST REPLACE THE HEATER SOON AFTER DEFROSTING SO YOU DONOT HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN.

Why doesn't my Frigidaire FRT21TNG freeze or cool fresh section?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRT21TNG, is not freezing or cooling. I also see that the coils are not freezing, the drain line and everything cleaned, and that the capacitor was replaced. From this point, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine why it will not cool as it should. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Freezer coils frozen, 27 deg. freezer and 45 deg. fridge.

the problem is most likly to be the freezer gas has lost its "get up and go!" and needs a "re-gas" and if the compressor is running all the time that could also need changing by now

Both the refrigerator (upper)and freezer (bottom) dont stay as cold as they used to. Feezer doesnt maintain freezing temps

When the refrigerator cools but isn't as cool as it should be, I would suspect that the refrigerant coils underneath the unit are dirty.

A fan in the rear of the compartment underneath the refrigerator draws room air across these coils and removes heat from them. If the coils are dirty, the heat transfer is not efficient. This results in the coils remaining hotter than they should. This cuts down on the efficiency of the refrigerator.

Also check to make sure this fan runs whenever the compressor runs.
