Well I'm using a Arris TM602G router. But I was also wondering if there's a notebook card of some sort for this router unless there's a better way to set up a wireless connection.

    Thanks for all your help.

Hi,

what type of modem are you using? You should be using a router which is capable of wireless connectivity....

Keep me posted

Often losing connectivity

Wireless router modems can be difficult. It helps to put tinfoil over your splice connectors as they leak signals that totally confuse your modem. Never leave any bare wires, I tinfoil the entire modem to prevent the neighbors from hacking me, and from interrupting signal noise. I don't use wireless, only CAT5 ethernet cable.

This is a known issue with this model.. The power supply is not large enough to handle the extra current that is needed when the unit broadcasts on wifi.

I have my main computer set yp with arris router

  • You can use both Ethernet and USB interface to connect two PCs simultaneously with one cable modem.

  • If you plan to go wireless (and maybe connect more computers), you have to purchase a router to split/share the internet connection coming from the modem.

The internet connection keeps disappearing.

Change the router's IP address to (192.168.10.1) maybe you have an IP conflict between the modem and router.

Wi-Fi isn't working

This could be a duplex issue. When you log into the belkin does is assign you an IP address? Have you used a ballpoint pen to reset the EMTA since you have connected the router?

I just bought a laptop and we recently got a DSL connection, I'm not sure how to connect my laptop wirelessly ( Do I need anything else?).

If you would like to connect wirelessly to your DSL connection you will need a wireless router if your modem is not a combination modem/wireless router (You can ask your ISP regarding this). You may go to
www.linksys.com and www.netgear.com so that you may look at routers that will suit your needs.

Yes, you do need a modem (DSL, Cable). This router does not function as a modem.
