The platinum wire in your air-mass assembly is shot. This happens with most 240/740 models at least once in the lifetime of the vehicle. Find a good used air-mass meter with the same stock number (50-75 dollars), and replace it---that should take care of it.

P.S.
Save your self the money of the rear harness---It will just break again and only serves the rear window wiper/squirter and cyclops light.

SOURCE: starting a 1984 240 DL Volvo wagon after sitting in a garage for 5 years

Replace engine oil and filter, air filter and fuel filter.
Drain the fuel tank and add fresh fuel.
Remove the spark plugs and put a squirt of oil in each cylinder. Remove coil lead and crank engine until oil pressure comes up.(light goes out),
replace coil lead and start engine.. it will blow smoke for first few minutes. Check trans fluid, brake fluid etc before driving. Theres a good chance the brakes will need an overhaul.

SOURCE: No power to injectors on 1984 Volvo 240 DL New wiring harness

ok you must see what is missing. an injector requires 12volts to operate. the 12+ should be constant when key on and engine on or off,and the ground pulses. check both ways and see whats not there. if you have no pulse then ecm,cam sensor, or wiring faulty. is power+ is gone, then you have wiring trouble wich is the easier soulution. check and let us know

SOURCE: my 1990 volvo 240 wagon shuts off while driving

There is a 25 amp fuse on the driver side inner fender. check the fuse holder for corrosion. replace if needed.

I am in need of the three wires that connect to my alternator on a 92 240 Volvo wagon. Not sure what they are called or if they come as a set. Greatly appreciate any help..

Those wires are part of the engine wiring harness. You usually need them because the insulation comes off of them. They can be repaired by a good shop if the rest of the harness is ok otherwise you will need to replace the whole harness

I have a 1984 Volvo 240 DL 4 cylinder wagon, it has had some minor electrical issues (like the power locks turning on the back windshield wiper) and the other day the car's engine and power steering just...

You need to check your engine wiring harness. 84 is part of the crumbling, corroding wiring insulation years. If your harness has not been replaced, you may have to really scrounge around to find one of the "new" versions that has okay insulation on the wiring.

Volvo 240 temp gauge and rough idle

Check the wiring from the connector at the center of the firewall to the engine. Many 83/84 240's had problems with the insulation crumbling and the wires shorting out. These problems got worse when this harness was disturbed in any way. Let me know if this helps or if you need further info.

How do I get the headliner down on an 89 Volvo 240 wagon, so I can access tailgate wiring harness?

with great difficulty, normally these things have plastic push studs if its the solid type ,but if its the material type with metal bar stretchers then the edges are pushed into a sort of groove in the edge of the roof ,and if its old as you try to pull it out it rips apart.Best of british with it

Starting in damp weather 1993 240 wagon, auto/od, 235k miles

perhaps you need a new cap and roter a new spark plug wire set. they don;t like moisture. also check to see if you have any broken or leaking vacuum hoses. the worse case senerio would be that your head gasket is leaking--at cold temps a little antifreeze will enter until everything warms up and it seals shut due to metal expanding. but since you say it's cold weather only--this probably wou;dn't be the case. good luck.

84 wagon

Check the injection fuse that's near the battery - It's a blade type fuse in a white holder on the smaller red wire attached to the positive battery terminal.
